Far be it for me to question the great Larranaga, but can somebody explain to me why I'm crazy thinking that Jekiri should be getting Reggie's minutes? He's a consistent contributor when he plays, whether it be defensively, alley-oops, rebounding etc.

Because at this point, I think we need both. Reggie had 5 rebounds and a couple of nice passes in 18 minutes. I'm done expecting too much from him, but he still plays a role.

I think Coach L is going with experience? I defer to Coach L, but Reggie shaved 3 years off my life tonight. Hope you're happy, Reggie.

Reggie is a liability offensively and defensively. Other than that....

Jekiri's total skill set is still lacking. He's getting there though and far faster than I ever would have thought. He is the boss of the chill just outside the lane and wait for a guard to get in the lane and lob one to him play. We play 4 big men for 2 spots, and JG and KK will be eating 30+ minutes each on the regular if healthy. The rest is filler.

Reggie has seriously digressed. He became a different person after his hand injury.

It's like watching an overweight 6 year old play basketball. It's painful to watch.

He doesn't bring anything to the table anymore.

Jekiri should be getting more PT.

I don't get why Coach L only plays him in the first half and then never puts him back in.

I'm not arguing that Jekiri is a well rounded player. I'm arguing that Reggie is just a round player.

I was asking the same thing. I like watching Tonye play, he rebounds, is always left wide open under the basket and plays good D.

Jekiri, Brown and Swoope getting more minutes is a good thing for this team. We are at least 9 deep in a lose and out tournament.

Yeah, this Larranaga clown is a joke. No idea on how to rotate players, make adjustments and doesn't know his talent. Makes Perry Clark look like the Wizzard of Westwood. At the rate he's going guaranteed to kill the program.

People, please stop with the nonsense. Coach L has everything under control. Jekiri is blooming in front of our eyes, but he's not ready for major, late game minutes. If Larkin can set him up for 2 or 3 dunks a game and he can bide time in the first half for our bigs, then terrific. I agree Reggie can be painful to watch, but at least last night he set some decent screens and a few nice passes. Gonna need both going forward. Late in last night's game had to go small because Illinois was playing 4 guards and hoisting up 3 balls.

My main issue with Jekiri is that he's simply not strong enough. Love him on defense and he's active on the boards, but can't make a shot under the basket with defenders around him unless it's an alley. Notice how he usually never plays the 2nd half as well. It may be a trust issue considering he's a true freshman, while Reggie is a 5th year senior.

Reggie won the game for us. Illinois was so stunned that we threw it to the clumsiest guy in the building that they forgot that they were supposed to foul someone. That bought us seven seconds.

Love the fact that he's developing next year's talent along the way on a deep run in this tourney, giving them precious experience in tense, live or die play. I'm convinced Jekiri will work his *** off in another summer of development.

I was saying Jekiri should've got some more minutes because #32 was killing Reggie on the boards. I thought Jekiri's length and height would've been able to match #32's length and height, whereas Reggie's size wasn't getting the job done. I also thought we were switching too easily on high pick and rolls because we had a number of times where guards switched onto #32 and he'd beast them inside for offensive boards.

With that said, don't care. Four more.

Agreed. In regards to developing our youngsters, a core of Larkin, Brown, and Jekiri doesn't look so bad anymore. Brown has shown us a number of times what he's capable of on both sides of the ball. He also works extremely well with Jekiri -- they've connected for a number of alley oops. Jekiri is still very young, but has a ton of length that he can use on defense and rebounding. He needs to develop his inside game, definitely a hook shot. If we can get 10 & 10 from him that'd be great. We all know what Larkin can do. I don't think we're looking at a Sweet 16 appearance next year, but the future might not be as dim as some think it is.

Jekiri might have more NBA potential than anyone on the team. An athletic 7 footer who plays great defense and is starting to develop touch around the rim. He is still raw but has made huge strides this year. He and Larkin can keep this rolling next year.

And we have a 7 man rotation without him, and Coach L doesn't completely trust Jekiri to get all of the minutes.

Reggie's hands = W.O.A.T.
