Jed Fisch and his redzone playcalling

Agreed. Red zone offense has been atrocious. Also hate that we are using a spread offensive set 90% of the time. Dont know what Fisch is trying to turn us into. We are prostyle.

You have no tight ends, and your best running back is 5'9 180lbs. No way we can run a pro set

we played Chase Ford a ton at TE last year. Cleveland isn't as good a blocker as Chase Ford? Can't catch as good? Same for Walford. Both of those guys should be on the field more - especially at the same time. When they get thrown to they catch the ball. They even show they know what to do with it once they catch it. Just have to give them more opportunities - especially with Hurns concussed.

Fisch made some great red zone calls in the 1st half. For example, on the goal line (2nd play after the big Walford catch & run, I think) our formation put 3 receivers on 2 defenders, and we had 2 guys WIDE open in the endzone. Morris got flushed the other way and couldn't find them.

The reverse doesn't bother me that much, considering it was a step away from working, and we weren't having much success with the north-south running game. On that scramble where we turned over on downs, if Morris just cuts up field, he has a pretty good shot at the goal line.

The td was to Walford as well, not that it mattered at that point.

It's hard to fault the play calling when we had opportunities, but didn't execute. Hurns' injury changed things as well, imo.

Are we a spread em out team? Or a smash mouth run up the gut team?

What the **** are we?

12 yard slants and square ins were automatic the whole first half. Morris was like 10-12 for 170 and we got 6 points, turrible

I'm giving Fisch a pass because the Oline and receivers have been sub-par for the first 2 games, which takes away a lot of the playbook. If we see some of the development I'm expecting (remember Morris was out all Spring) the O should open up quite a bit.

You're on the road against a ranked team. You have young players all over the roster. You have an OL that is supposed to be your strength. You fall behind early and it could get out of control at any moment. What you need to do to settle your team down, to quiet the crowd and establish yourself is a long, controlled drive, running behind the big OL nd eating up time and keeping the KStat offense off the field. Establish the line of scrimmage, gain some confidence. Your OL won't be playing on their heels everydown.

Slowly you begin to make some first downs, you get into the red zone, you come off the field onto the sidelines knowing you can move the pile and control the clock. Simple formula that has worked to perfection over the years. If we had a competent staff, that would have been the game plane IMO. Fisch, Golden and even Keheo should have been lobbying for that plan of attack.

Red Zone offense was poor last year and is poor so far this year. Fisch seems to choke when the pressure is on.

The play with Bunche and Henderson on the same side was a good idea but they were so far apart Duke had to run around them and not behind them because the defense easily went between them. If they stood closer together Duke could have followed them easily, instead the play got too wide and blown up.

It's not even just the red zone. He has sucked all year. The offense has no rhythm to it whatsoever...it's garbage.
