Jayden Wayne to the portal

He’s going to get multiple opportunities because of his hs rankings. A lot of coaches will overlook his time at Miami and Washington. I know it’s a different era but I still feel that the majority of college players need to be patient and wait their turn. Unless he was encouraged to leave, he should have stayed imo. Back in the day some guys didn’t see the field until their RS-sophomore years or even their RS-junior years. This is also why I wouldn’t allow a hs kid to press me about NIL (not saying Wayne did that; I never heard anything negative about the kid).

he will be out of football soon enough
And now you see a prime example of the main problem created by nil. Kids lose that hunger and find contentment. For myself and most of the people I know that found success in sports It came because they had a hunger in them to change their life path. I can't even talk **** about these kids that go throughout high school so impressive and then get to the next level and bust. Because I can't imagine what it is to be a millionaire in high school & the second you sign your paperwork. Can you really find surprise and knowing people lose that hunger to push through all the misery that comes with football and you're already a millionaire and you don't develop that animosity that hunger that drive. as it doesn't come when you're a little kid It comes in your teenage years It comes in your early adult years. Well now these mutha****as millionaires as teenagers.

Do not forget how ganglion Rousseau was at first, and he contributed.
Greg wasn't in any version of the same comparison. Greg in high school Yes he was tall and lanky. But by the time he got here within a month he had already put on massive weight by the time the season came around he put on insane weight and all of it muscle. Greg is a very rare exception of a human being that can do that straight out of high school and put on grown man weight like that.

Wayne was another missed evaluation. Couldn't cut it at Miami and Washington.
To an extent maybe you can call him a missed evaluation. Because a kid's mind is just a big apart of the evaluation as his talent. Jaden Wayne's issue isn't whether or not he can play football. It's now that he's a millionaire as a kid does he still feel the desire to play football at that same level he showed previous to getting paid. His problem without question facts is his work ethic is trash he does not put in the work that he was at IMG and I know this for facts because I've seen it myself what he's doing now is very different from what he did before he got that money.

It's definitely a totally different era of college football. Majority of these younger players don't want to wait and learn. They want to see the field immediately regardless of it they're ready or a more talented guy ahead of them and if they don't they are right out of the door.

💯. They don’t realize it hurts their development. I grew up watching AJ waiting behind Wayne, Moss, King, and D Jones. Taylor waiting behind Reed. A depth chart with James Jackson, Clinton Portis, Willis McGahee, Frank Gore and Jarret Payton.

Yes Sir. Wayne was top recruit for reason but how a player reacts to once they get paid is hard judge. We've seen it in the pro leagues forever and now in we're seeing it in college football.

Some players are driven to perform regardless. Some aren't.

Main difference is the developmental years that mold who we are as people. Yes, you can pick up a lot in your youth. But your drive is always something that you pick up throughout your teenage years and it carries you throughout adulthood. Trust me, it's wild when that first chunk hits your accounts. I got my signing bonus in at 21. It changes you when you go to sleep one night and have a hundred bucks in your account and wake up that Wednesday morning (some organizations Tuesdays)and all of a sudden youre a millionaire. Won't even say what that second contract is like mentally. But I can imagine going through that at 16,17,18... Where's your motivation then to get up at 4am and grind with your brothers? These mother ****ers just wanna sleep in half the time now. It takes a different kind of human. A different motivating factor has to click now. Personally I'd say that's pretty **** hard to evaluate before you put them in that position.

I should have completed my original thought. Thank you for the correction.

Missed evaluation of his attitude, his intangibles. The measurables aren't difficult and coaches can project some physical development. He checked all the boxes.

But as you wrote, one day he's a high school kid, maybe from a middle class family, maybe from a poor family. Next day he's got more money than a many adults and maybe has family asking for money.

That's hard enough when you're 21, 22 let alone 18, 19.

Happy New Year!

Losing “Hunger” was always my biggest worry with these kids getting all this $$$. At 67, I’m still hungry (figuratively).

Exactly. I get it. When I was in their shoes I dreamed about these days. Getting paid. Not having to worry about ****, doing what I want. But that's part of why you grind all that much harder. That's part of what creates a dog. We got our bread from small time crimes(at least that's what I think. I definitely never did anything wrong...)& booster parties on Sundays or Mondays.

I'm sure this happens a lot more than people think. And it's the same reason so many guys flame out in the NFL.

What I don't understand is how these kids keep posting with offers and uniforms and the artwork EVERY…SINGLE…TIME they re-enter the portal.

I mean give em a pass for the first time experience when they are 16-17 yrs whatever, but you got these kids going thru the cycle and all the IG/Twitter, etc…Every year over and over again?

Just seems childish and corny to me, especially at 20-21 yrs old going to your 2nd-3rd team.
