Why anyone would want a head coach who has their team 10-1, undefeated in conference, 400 yards of offense and 30+ points a game is beyond me.

An offseason Jason Candle thread is like Anita Bryant and Orange Juice: it's like a Day without Sunshine!
 
Toledo has the 54th ranked offense according to F+. Which is certainly respectable, although not overly impressive.

That’s the highest ranking offense he’s had since 2018 when he had the 40th ranked offense.

Keep in mind that Sean Lewis at Kent State, arguably the worst program in the MAC, had the 12th ranked offense during that time frame.

I’m from Toledo and grew up going to Rockets games. I watch all the games that are televised. Candle is an outstanding offense coach. People on here attacked me when I was saying he would be a HR hire, but I stand by it. He is a maven on both the run and pass game, and schemes around his personnels’ strengths and weaknesses. Guy is a stud. Zero idea why people hate his offense is toward the top of the MAC Every year.

Because MAC offenses suck?

Of the 14 worst teams in college football according to analytics:

5 are MAC teams, with Kent State and Akron bring the two worst.

And UMASS is in there, and Toledo played them out of conference.

Of course your offense is going to put up huge numbers when you play teams that just go 3 and out and also can’t stop anybody on offense.

Sean Lewis sucked? MAC was 4-2 in bowl games last year. I know Mario’s boy Joe Moorhead is at Akron, so that brings down the stats a bit.

People think the only way an offense can be considered good is if it has outstanding stats and goes undefeated. They fail to understand the role that talent and competition play in the equation.

Yes, because you with 3500 posts have so much more knowledge than those with less than 1000 posts. Some of us don't post all the time, but I guess I could start responding to posts with such intellectual responses as yep, agree, great to see, disagree, this post is dumb, etc to pad my post count. GTFOH

Even Moorhead has Akron playing better than recent seasons. Yes, they only have 2 wins, but lost to Indiana in 4 OTs, Buffalo in OT, and last night in 2 OTs. Trailed Kentucky 14-3 late 3rd quarter as well. MAC is a solid mid-major conference
