He will impress me when I see the offense and we're succeeding. I don't care/need my coordinators tweeting.

That's great and all but I don't care if my OC can recruit. I want a guy who knows how to maximize our talent and put points on the board. If he brings in a player or 2, great.

I don't think it is important if your coordinators are good recruiters, prefer that they are football gurus.

He can't be both?

Sure people can multi-task. I am just skeptical of his ACTUAL OC skills. I prefer people be impressed with the way he coaches an offense rather than how he conducts an interview. Which at this moment his offensive coaching skills are a UNKNOWN. Not that these are mutual exclusive things.

I could care less about the noise surrounding the team and more specifically Coley. He has a loaded offense next year and they must produce. I will reserve judgement until then.

It's more about the Jimmy's and Joe's than x's and o's. Give me superior talent all day long....

I love the guy...I think he is going to abuse CBs and safeties and take advantage of all of our WR's and TE's

I think he understands our O-line is amazing and will rotate and pound the rock...

Besides the guy can recruit and creates that buzz...kids will want to play hard for him

You love the guy? Why? This is the OC you wanted above all. Understanding and doing are not so easy things. We will see, but too me he is an unknown (because that is based on hi track record).

I am not going to debate this as it has been done before and it is blatantly obvious. I hope the guy does what you say.

Yes and sending out a few tweets will really DERAIL all of your concerns... :ohlord:

i agree. while his recruiting skills are great, it's more of an ancillary bonus. the key for an OC is calling the right plays and maximizing our talent. Hopefully, he's up to the task.

That is all I am saying.

Recruiting has become just as important as calling plays

I think you are combining issues. Sure there just as important. Recruiting is half the battle for any program. There is then development and coaching for the other half.

It is great if you have an OC that can do both, but I don't think that is necessary. I would prefer a total OC nerd who could hardly recruit but maximizes the points scored as opposed to a good recruiter/good coach who can't put up as many points. Not every coach on your team needs to be a stud recruiter, some will have to be beasts in the X's and O's department.

Jury is still out for me on Coley. He used some VERY generalized terms when discussing offensive schemes & ideas. I hope it's just him being very cautious but even Fisch would get in-depth when discussing ideas. Makes me a little nervous to be honest.

Could be he's just not a great interviewer!
