Jake Heaps' potential and assessment

You guys are delusional

Agreed. Competition for playing time sucks. What if Heaps pushes Olsen and Kaaya. Maybe Kaaya pushes the others. Could be that Olsen, gets his head on straight, and pushes the other 2. And the best of the three, while it still may be a FR, a redshirt FR, or a former national highly ranked QB outta HS, wins...yeah. Sounds bad. Lets just hand the starting job to the local S. FL. QB to appease local high school coaches even the kid plays absolutely awful.

Not saying we get the next Dorsey out of any of the three...but how is completion for playing time bad?

Competition is not a bad thing but OP just said he sees a "Russel WIlson" type season... LMAO OP forgot that Russel. Wilson was tearing up defenses for 3 years at NC State. The comparison is not even close. He was doing the same thing at Wisconsin that he did at NC State... WHile Heaps was yucking it up at 2 colleges..GTFOH with that ****.. Heaps numbers were horrible even against trash teams last year... Th best he can be here is average after 2 horrible years..The only reason I like the move is it saves Kayaa his redshirt...

I think you misread what I wrote. A Russell Wilson type season stats wise is almost impossible. I think he holds the passer efficiency record. However, to do what Russell Wilson did in terms of coming to a program near July, picking up the playbook quickly and playing smart, efficient football for the season is very possible. All we need is an efficient QB which based off of his Kansas play suggest he can be that guy.

He was doing the same thing at Wisconsin that he did at NC State.

Also, Russell Wilson's stats his last year completely trump what he did at NC State. Doesn't really help my argument but just thought I'd point out. However, I would appreciate it if people passed judgement based off of his tape. Go watch the tape!

i gotchya Vern. And agreed...a Russel Wilson-type thing is not gonna happen here. I understand your delusional quote.

Hate to be that guy but

NC State
Freshman Year 21 TDs 1 Int (started half the season)
Sophomore YR 35 TDs 11 int
Junior Year 37 tds 14 ints

Wisconsin

Senior Year 39 tds 4 int

Yes his senior year he was more efficient and higher completion rate.... But he was a beast his whole career at NC State... Heaps had an OK freshman year..and horrible SOhpmore and Junior campaigns..... Im sorry Ive seen the K State game... I didnt come away impressed he looks average to me.... I mean he has to put up better numbers here how could he not? Sorry for ****ing in your cheerios but I dont see this guy as anything special. However he has to be better than Olsen So Im happy we got him but he is what he is man.. He wont put us past a 6 or 7 win season

CMon dudenate you know what I meant... He will not be succesful here...I guess we need to describe what we consider a succesful season for Heaps. FOr me its a 60% completion rate, and 2 :1 TD to interception ratio, 45% 3rd down conversion rate..8 wins. As the bare minimum

chill bro. Stick to your 50% right/wrong recruiting prognostications.

He might be successful...he might not. You'll gloat if he isn't and be happy he's unsuccessful just to prove a point. I agree he isn't going to have a Wilson-type transfer thing going on...that is delusional to think so. But, right now, in mid June, to say he's gonna be unsuccessful here is somewhat premature. Let it play out. He very may suck. He could very well be OK. If we have a scholly, why not use it on a former 4*QB recruit to push the others on the roster??

I think he;s gonna be unsuccesful by looking at his history. But your right Two transfers and 125th out of 129 college QB's in completion percentage, and the K State film have driven me to the notion that he will not be successful here.. Or what I determine to be successful/ I dont dislke the decision of bringing him here..He's probably the best healthy QB on our roster right now ... which isnt saying much... I hope to god Im wrong but I was a believer in Berlin not a believer in this dude

For me the successful season would be 10+ wins. A great season is 12 wins and an exceptional season is no losses.
I don't care who the qb is or what his stats are.
If we generate 500 yards of offense a game and it's 300 rushing 200 passing, that works for me.
