Jake Heaps interview WQAM

It was a very good interview he is poised and focused this is his chance to earn a few million vs being an undrafted free agent hopefully signing for the league minimum. I also think it could do wonders for Olsen to have sit and mature another year but also get a little game experience in clean up duty. It would also allow UM to redshirt Kaaya and Malik providing future depth at the QB position.

Successful???

Unsuccessful????

Freshman year. MVP of a bowl game. Broke Detmer's Freshman TD record. Hasn't done anything of note sense.

Hasn't been in an offensive scheme that suits his talents since.

I think he'll be fine if he wins the job, actually. He did lose the job at BYU in the same scheme. He hasn't played with much talent and had Weis as his coach.

He will be fine here. LMAO at these jokers who don't remember the media attention Heaps got after his sensational freshman year. Yeah he was never successful, bro.

It's going to be crazy to see what a guy with his maturity and skill-set will be able to do when surrounded by talent. You can never please the mopes around here.

Maybe that's because when Heaps' "sensational" freshman season happened in 2010, we were still firmly entrenched in the Randy Shannon era. That's how long ago it was.

Heaps lost starting jobs at BYU and Kansas of all places since that time. But yeah, those who are doubting someone who's played as poorly as Heaps has since 2011 are jokers.

It would be great if he came out and set the world on fire. But considering what he's shown at each of his prior schools before having to transfer to seek a new opportunity for playing time, very low expectations seem appropriate.

Seriously. The kid had a solid freshman year, and has been bad after that. There's no reason to assume that he'll be anything other than what he has been his entire career, which is solid to bad. I hope he can just be solid and not turn the ball over if he's going to be the starter.

He's played poorly? Are you basing that off statistics, or did you actually watch him play?

Well his experience will certainly be a plus. If he can get us in the right plays we should be fine
