Jai Lucas set to become next men’s basketball coach

It’s not even UM basketball. UM basketball has been the sole bright spot for UM sports over the last 12 years.

Success is often pretty simple. I get that there was no Larranaga available this cycle… but there are plenty of mid major coaches who have demonstrated that they know how to run a team, win games, and make their program better.

Make that list, identify the features you prioritize to build your program (recruiting, X & O’s, leadership, organizational skills, fundraising, etc), and then pick from the guys on the list who fit the profile.

We just jumped on a 36 yr old hype train.

Could work. Should have money.

But maybe check with Rutgers to find out if it’s just about recruiting.

Go canes… with a sigh, because this was an enormous missed opportunity. Especially if they’re gonna throw money at basketball NIL.
Hasn't Rutgers only had 1 good yr recruiting? I think the idea is to stack top classes on top of eachother....

I don’t think you can really stack classes in basketball unless you’re a blue blood. You can try to develop 4* recruits but that is a tough model in the NIL era. Elite recruits are one year rentals.

NIL has made money and coaching acumen the primary traits for success, IMO.

Scores a good amount but doesn’t shoot at a high %

Only upside was learning about a dozen schools for the first time. I like Mitch Henderson out of Princeton

Yeah, that list was ****. Who would hire a guy from, what was it, "George Mason"? Sounds like a made-up school name...
