I can surely understand if she decides to take a break from this chaos. First and foremost, most of us appreciate what she brings.
Secondly, she shouldn’t let a few idiots ruin her experience on this board and seems more than capable of handling the noise.
Lastly, and selfishly, those of us not in the loop lose her insight and info if she decides to go the DM route.
Absolutely.
This is the reason why so many long-timers on these boards have concerns with trust and identity and personal information. There are some monumental jacka$$es on this board who have no human kindness, respect, or boundaries. Posters who can't take a joke, or can't forgive some disagreement you had three years ago. People who cannot converse like adults in private DMs, and who have to turn every situation into a public display of monkey-*****-flinging.
Nobody is perfect, I've been posting on various boards for nearly 25 years and there has been plenty of uncivil discourse. Through the "old days" of every poster defending himself/herself by outflaming everyone else, to today's "kinder and gentler" CIS, I have done one thing consistently. I have always communicated with people via DMs to resolve issues, I have never "ignored" or blocked anyone who has embraced the settling of differences like an adult. "I'm sorry" and "It won't happen again" are powerful words when they are sincere.
We all have crititiquing and joking styles that may be subject to misinterpretation. I rely heavily on sarcasm, so I've had to clarify my statements many, many times. But you also won't find anyone on this board who will tell you, after good-faith and honest conversation with me, that "hey, I still think that guy is an *******". And I've had the pleasure and honor to meet, e-mail, talk on the phone, Zoom, and tailgate with a great many of the CIS legends.
I know that the Mods and Maudes have done a better job of regulating certain language on this board, and I hope we can progress to certain kinds of behavior, so that we can elevate the overall level of interaction. If Gary Ferman wants to charge you $100 a year for unreliable information, then feel free to give him a hard time. But for the unpaid geniuses like Cribby and Leeds and Jay and LCE and Dee and CIO/SWFL...and so many others who deserved to be named...it's time to treat them with some common courtesy. That's all. You don't have to venerate them, but just keep their names out of your mouths if you think that their "predictions" did not all pan out.
Let's keep the CIS Casino going. If you are miserable about having no luck of your own, don't start ripping the more successful gamblers, go over and watch the David Copperfield show and leave everyone else alone.
