2026 Jaelen “Seatbelt” Waters 4* CB from Armwood Decommits from the Gates

Wasn’t Stubbs part of the Dennis Smith meltdown? I’d say we misread the room in that one.. The we didn’t counter argument is weak. But I also feel like we covered through the portal so hard to get too triggered.

Yes he was part of the Dennis smith melt down. However beyond whatever was going on with Dennis the reason for the meltdown was stubbs and his people tried to shake us down for significantly more money after we went out of our way over and over for him. Dennis meltdown from the football perspective was directly related to that. If we would've wanted to, we could've matched that number and held on. We all know the end result. But that's far from being bodied.

Totally fair. But @Dwinstitles used the term bodied not me. My position is a little different in that we should have known Stubbs’ people were going to negotiate in a way we weren’t prepared to and walked long before December.

This stuff is super hard, I’m not being overly critical, The 2025 DB class wasn’t epic like expected but it was good quality. The real issue was pre-2025 class recruitment failures, and again, we made up for it in the portal.

Part of the reasons Stubbs was salty in his interviews is he apparently didn’t plan to go to UF. He saw them throwing money around. Reach out to try and get and offer to up
What we were giving him. At least that’s what I was told. Mario don’t play that.

there is a difference when you lose doing everything you can like they did with Jeremiah Smith and when you basically tell a kid good bye because you arent willing to get shaken down.
If it’s about money allocation I’d rather get players like poyser. No true freshmen safety will fix what was wrong last year.
