2026 Jackson Cantwell 5* OT from Nixa, MO

That's what no one seems to comprehend factors into this kids recruitment and where I'd say we're at a severe disadvantage. Kids a monster in shot put. If you're not relevant in track and field nationally it's probably gonna hurt.
No offense but the money he could make as a top 5 draft pick at LT should keep him focused on this craft. This T&F nonsense I think if worry more if he was a 3 star kid who really was judging an Olympic level status vs a so-so chance at even starting on a P4 level

Besides if he’s that good he can show up on our T&F team and probably get the same Olympic spot

I know the family. Shot put is in his blood but ultimately it’s not gonna pay the bills. Football is how he will build generational wealth for his family and they know that. Mario and Mirabal are beasts. If they pull this off it’s arguably the greatest recruiting win we’ve seen minus Cam Ward. Miami should not win this battle. But they are giving us a punchers chance.

The unique thing about Shot put is that he can train for both in the spring and early summer. Most dual athlete must sacrifice weight to play both. That isn’t the case here. Fortunately for him, his mom was a D1 coach and his dad is one of the greatest of all time. Regardless of where he goes, he’ll have the resources to make the most of his track career to a certain point. Once the NFL dreams start to become a reality hard decisions will be made.

While we may not have a great overall track program, we actually have a very good throws coach (Cory Young) who by the way has known and had a personal relationship with Jacksons parents for some time now. ;)
I didn't know either of those points

I love it when guys from Missouri pick The U.

Wiltfong says we are surging here, fwiw.

I still like where Georgia stands for Nixa (Mo.) High five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell but there is no question that the Bulldogs have major competition.

The program that is surging right now in the final six is Miami. Cantwell spent several days in Coral Gables to kick off spring break. The way that Mario Cristobal and Alex Mirabal coach and develop the players on the offensive front was very exciting. What they’ve done with true freshmen starters at the position means something. How aggressive they’ve been from a relationship standpoint has resonated with the Cantwell camp. NIL isn’t the driving force in Cantwell’s recruitment but it’s a factor and the Hurricanes are armed to battle there.

Just reported this on the podcast thirty minutes ago. Full Bank coming soon.

I’ve got questions about this kid especially the bag it’s gonna take

But you land the #1 recruit in the whole country it sends a message

Remember Ryan Day literally flew to see the kid the moment after they won the national championship

As first reported on the CanesInSight podcast this morning (and later confirmed by on3's Steve Wiltfong), Miami is surging for #1 overall player OT Jackson Cantwell (Nixa, MO). He had a great unofficial visit last week and likes the Coral Gables lifestyle. More importantly, he has strong relationships with Miami's OL staff and believes in their development plan. It will be a battle with Georgia, Oregon and others, but this is a real situation.
