Ivins - Staff makes “huge stop”

While your original post was funny, they can do all those things while there is a dead period. While they can recruit though, they might as well be recruiting....

That's fair. I'd just rather they spend that time recruiting guys like Dotson or 2021 kids.

I think he picks us. He's the kind of guy who isn't afraid to strike out and go against the conventional wisdom.
Is the fact that he has two kids prior to collecting a high school diploma evidence of his willingness to go against conventional wisdom?

There’s plenty of time to do everything. Successful staffs everywhere do it. If we don’t have enough time to recruit FertiliTae and a couple others for the two open slots and do the other work we need to do, then we are doing everything wrong.

Very true. My own personal comments were limited to the article, and the management of expectations, but we need to recruit better, so I hope Manny is practicing.

I would also like to see a bit more progress on the hire of a WR coach, even though our WR recruiting is over and done with. But I'm not going to vicariously micromanage Manny's time on the recruiting trail.

Successful staffs also know when to cut bait on a potential recruit and focus their attention elsewhere. This staff (in particular on defense) has demonstrated the exact opposite.

After the Knighton recruitment, I have zero problem with the staff battling until the whistle. He’s obviously showing some interest. Chances of him coming are slim to none but I very much doubt that they aren’t working on the 21 class or GTs bc they are recruiting Tae.

Plenty of time to do all of the things they need to do going forward.

You don’t need torush the wr hire esp if you don’t know what’s going on behind closed doors. The new coach isn’t coming into recruit ofr this cycle. Just have the guy in place before march when 2021 recruiting heats up

why cut bait on tae if there isn’t much left to fill the one spot left?

I have no issue with them pushing for this kid until he signs with us or someone else especially after picking up Dunson and Smith. Right now there aren't many players that are anything other than projects still unsigned and the ones that aren't we haven't been recruiting for one reason or another.

Worst case scenario he signs with Florida and we use his scholarship and counter slot on a transfer that can help us this season. Best case scenario we see some signing day fireworks and we add the #2 safety in the country to our class.

Again, I think a GT like Dotson fills a more important need, though I admittedly have no clue if he's even a possibility. Also, there's always work to be done on next year's class.

We keep saying we want depth like the old days, we get this kid and imagine going from Hall straight to this guy and it keeps going.

Any actual proof of anything they’ve been unable to accomplish while recruiting FertiliTae? Or just pure speculation because you don’t want us to recruit him?

Actual proof? C'mon, man. There is always more film to watch. Another kid (this class or the next) to visit. HS coaches to talk to or meet with. It's not speculation, it's economics and time management.

Besides, the question isn't what have they been unable to accomplish during this recruitment. The question is what goals could they have made progress on with that time.

If you can’t recruit this one troll during the heart of recruiting season with only 1 spot open and do all that other stuff you mentioned, then you’re in the wrong business.
