It’s only wasting time if it takes away from something more important. Our class is pretty much full.

TThey aren’t getting played. The kid isn’t taking someone else’s spot. Let them try til the bitter end if they want to.

The 2020 class is already in the can. Why not spend some time with an impressionable, talented kid right before the buzzer?

4. Planning out their 2021 DB recruiting board for what looks to be a pretty strong class for South Florida.

So basically, when things get tough and the odds are stacked against you, quit and move on to something else.
 
This isn't a Lifetime after-school special, it's major college football recruiting.

Yeah I know that, do you? Cause in major college football coaches scratch, claw and fight for premier recruits to the bitter end, then do everything else on your list every single day.

There is no justifiable reason not to recruit this kid every chance they get, no matter how slim the chance, other than your feelings being hurt when he doesn't pick us.

My feelings are fine, chief. I have been quite confident Tae isn't going to pick us for quite some time, and that perspective that comes with it is calming. But while you're in here giving your best Rudy speech about never quitting until the final bell, and our coaches are out in the world spending additional time on kids that have already told us no, time continues to be wasted.

In the real world, where all resources are limited, you need to carefully decide how to allocate them. And there is no resource more precious than time. You think the HC, DC, and ST coaches taking a few hours out of their day recruiting a young man who has already decommitted, openly discussed bags, and needs diaper money is a great idea because "we never quit?" Grow up.

You think this is about feelings? Get out of yours. This is about opportunity cost and the value of time. Being able to efficiently disengage from targets that are highly unlikely to commit so you can maximize your chance of success with other (more likely) targets.

The best programs are either coldly efficient in their recruiting and management, increase their budgets so they can throw more man hours at recruiting and operations, or both. If we want to compete in recruiting, we need to be more efficient in recruiting. Allocating time wisely is critical.

i’m curious, if he does choose to attend the university of miami, how does your life/time theory play going forward? not a troll.
 
Totally agree. No way he's coming to Miami. Besides the Lingard factor, he has 2 kids and mentioned he wanted to be close to his children. He said, “It’s way too far, it would take me a whole day to get home, and I got two kids." That was the main reason for decommitting from Oregon. Gainesville is less than 2 hours away.

Given the season they had and the one they had, I just don't see it. We're going to get played on NSD. If you want to make your signing a splash, you have to have some legit schools on the table. I expect Miami, Florida, and UGA to be on the table come NSD. He's going to Florida.
I doubt that we can pay enough to support those two kids and probably more on the way.

You realize there is a 2021 class to work on, right? And a 2022 class. Graduate transfers. New offense to implement. Defensive tweaks and adjustments that need to be made. Checking in on S&C. Hiring a WR coach. Monitoring grades. Making sure the new enrollees are adjusting. Film study. Staff meetings. Community outreach. Fundraising...

It doesn't stop. "Just grinding all day, every day," whatever that actually means, is not enough. They must do so intelligently and with a plan. Work smarter, not just harder. Spend the time where it is more ikely to have an impact and get you dividends on the field.

In that case, it might show the coaches had a better feel for the recruitment than I and many others did, and the continued allocation of their time to recruit him worked out and wasn't a total waste (at least for now). It does not change the fact that they could have been doing something else (potentially, something more impactful) for the program. But, at the very least, there would be some immediate, positive dividend to show for their time.

Personally, if we only have 2 spots left, a safety isn't high on my list (CB and OT please), but it beats having unused ICs come game day.

The fact you think any of the things you just stated are in any way negatively affected by the time it takes to chase this ONE RECRUIT, like even 1%, makes me realize it’s time to end this.

If they didn't visit, we'd all be *****ing that they didn't even try. They probably know he's not coming - respect for trying to get him anyways.

i dont think tae is coming but stranger things have happened esp with last min visits. i still think he goes to UF tho esp with two kids at home
