Nah. I’ve literally seen people on this board call Manny/Baker/Banda “dumb and dumber” and say stuff like “they haven’t learned” for visiting the kid tonight. That’s completely different than a fanbase falling for clickbait articles.

Probably right, but what is the alternative?
Do nothing and then say "I told you he wasn't coming here". Assume for a moment that Williams is the last player in contention, and our recruiting budget has money for the trip, and our coaches had no other pressing matter. Assuming that is all true, and it reasonably is, then wouldn't you rather have the coaches recruiting and working as opposed to sitting around the office? I say put them to work, and some work is better than no work. Some chance is better than no chance.

Again, there is a differential between "making an effort" and "believing the nonsense". We have seen PUBLISHED REPORTS about how the staff was "surprised" that certain recruits chose other schools. Let's not pretend the Avantae stuff is happening in a vacuum.

I do think that Baker is terrible, Banda should go, and that Manny isn't quite as smart as he thinks he is. How all of that factors in to the "SHOCK" that our coaches experience when recruits "they think they have" pick another school can be debated.

I hope that Manny succeeds. My own assessment of that probability has declined over the past year. I went to the Hurricane Club event in Orlando last year, I was impressed by things Manny talked about regarding his attention to detail for the UF game. After that, the next 12 games transpired, and I am no longer as optimistic in his abilities.

I really wish he would have taken the Alonzo lifeline. It sucks to have a young head football coach and an incompetent AD.

they dont have many open spots left and not many targets left in 2020. whats the diff?

The 2020 class is already in the can. Why not spend some time with an impressionable, talented kid right before the buzzer?
