Ivins latest update

Not sold on the DL for this defensive class, once the DL takes a back seat expect the other areas to suffer because of it.

Yeah, I need to see another blue chip DT, Bogle and another quality DE in this class. Right now we only have 2 total blue chip guys on the line in Harvey and Blissett (spelling?).

Jalar Holley can be Kendrick norton. Anyone who thinks otherwise is giving norton too much credit. Blissett and Munoz can be RJ types with proper development if we’re lucky

Really don't understand why we don't hit the Juco market
Maybe we will. Jucos tend to be a last resort for some reason. Coaches now seem to want 5th year transfers more.

We used to get very good to great players from Jucos: Cortez Kennedy, Eddie Brown, Geoff Torretta, Richard Newbill, Bryant McKinney, Jerome McDougal, Shockey...so many. If they miss on targets, maybe they'll start looking at Jucos.

Why aren't you sold on Blissett?
I like my Dlineman strong and quick like Willis, 5 star type. I mean thats what I prefer but I know we cant get them cause we cant fend off certain schools. We have to settle alot of the times and that means settle for up and down seasons. I like all positions to jump off the tape and make me say wow who the fuq is that guy

You say that like it's a bad thing. You do know some of our all time greats were guys that wouldn't have been at UM if the school they really wanted to go to had an extra scholarship or wanted them at the position they wanted to play

Disagree with this, is that true yes partially. Its a different time now those days of knowing whos flying under the radar as secret 1st rounders are over. We had a roster of secret stars, that doesnt happen anymore with social media and camps.

Dude there's nothing secret stars about FSU disrespecting Ray and telling him he would have to sit behind Derrick Brooks so he politely told them to ****off leaving him available for Miami to finally come in prior to signing day and offer him. Or for Portis to believe in his ability to play running back that he wasn't willing to play DB for Spurrier. The list goes on and on with players whose preferred destination messed it up in some way leading them to end up somewhere else. Everything isn't about EReed or Russell Maryland's. Although guys still fly under the radar so let's not act like 247 and Rivals don't still miss kids. The best defensive player in the NFL had to go to Buffalo, Lamar had to go out of state to loserville to play QB, and the number one pick in last year's NFL draft was a walk on at two different schools.

Miami missing on running backs, both domestic and foreign, has been a trend for a long time. Brown is just following suit. With that said...he does get credit for landing Lingard and coaching up DeeJay Dallas at the RB spot. I don't think its a lot of credit, but he'll get a tip of the cap.

But this year is a bit of a mess that is fireable. At this current moment, he has swung and missed on far too many. DJ Williams is the last straw as far as I am concerned. How you don't land him at minimum is some outright nonsense. You had posters promoting him on this forum since he was a sophomore. Also, he's got enough of a portfolio now where we can determine he has a ****** eye for talent.

Blisset though pretty quick, he lacks the strength. I would think a year in the SC program should make him pretty good.

Im not saying they dont miss kids look at Mack...Antonio Brown....etc. But kids dont fly under the radar as much as before and apparently our evals of "hidden gems" have not been as good as those earlier years. We arent good at finding forst rpund hall of fame hidden gems anymore. Those evaluators arent here anymore. Its a different game now everyone most of the time knows whos elite around the country. U honestly think a kid like Ray Lewis Sapp Taylor Reed would be hidden in todays age? No they wont be...those kids attempt to go to camps to get there name out there gain followers and build there brand. Its way different now how could u not see that

We do not have the best evaluators on staff period. When u have a HC who thought Deshaun Watson wasnt a qb his evals are bad i can name more.

The staff doesnt have a hidden gem track record of elite hidden gems they dont

That whoopie mcfarland miss looks like a huge miss now with him getting that burst back from the injury

I don’t understand the “if he makes his visit he is a flip candidate”
One would think that if he is really a flip candidate then there wouldn’t be a question is he makes his visit it not.

I guess.

McFarland blew up late in the year, for sure...but I still have my doubts that he would have played here very much. If you want to knock'em for it...I won't stand in your way.

Why are you sold on him is a better question. The starting position should be not sold unless you’ve seen reason to be sold.

We're getting way off subject because evaluation of under the radar kids has nothing to do with you thinking getting a top 100 kid whose at the top of our board because Bama fills up is a bad thing. If It happens doesn't degrade the kids ability or means we should be sour about landing a kid that way. I'm sure you had no problem enjoying watching GWill play this year and the only reason he's here is because he ***d up at his original choice and got kicked out. I don't care if Miami lands an elite kid just because his school faxed in the wrong LOI, I'm not going to feel mopey or be bothered by that.
