Interesting technical foul called against IU there for what seemed like a rather innocuous offensive foul. Elbow hit the face of a Sparty playing close defense, whistle was blown and suddenly MSU has 2 free throws.

An elbow, even if just being used to clear out space, is an automatic technical foul in college basketball if it hits someone. I didn't see the play since I was on my way to our game, but if he hit him in the face with an elbow, if they call an offensive foul on the play, it almost has to also be a tech, too.
