Never underestimate a rich person’s desire to show off money. Just ask every booster in the history of college sports. None received an actual ROI, but all received an even bigger ego with their bragging rights.
Same as buying a yacht, or a Rolls.

Great deal for Ruiz and of course Miami, our school. Nothing but good things can come from this and with Ruiz’s proposed NIL deals we’ll be able to enter the arms race officially now. And with the continual improvements in facilities and the Hecht Center we will enter a new age of Canes dominance!!!

It's called "spending money", aka "consuming" aka "buying things". This is under the assumption that, if one already has more money than one can ever spend, one uses money to "buy" or "pay for" things that one wants, likes or needs, and not just for the purpose of acquiring even more money that one can never spend.

What is the point of money? Is it for buying things, or is it merely for getting more money?

What is the point of having Fvck-you-money if you don't every now and then say "Fvck you"?

If you, my dear Bird, had 20 billion dollars, what would you buy? More money?
