**It happens everywhere...**

Is going to Gainesville really a horizon expanding experience?
Want to go from backward southern city to Los Angeles? Seattle? Chicago? Sure, horizon expanding indeed. New weather, new culture, new people. Going from one SEC town to another is staying comfortable and getting paid. It is what it is, unless the local SEC school didn't recruit you.

The only thing I ever got in Gainesville was the clap.

I don't think it is an excuse at all. Some kids want to expand their horizons and see more than the 20 square block area they grew up in. Is that so difficult to believe?
It is when you take a look at the sheer volume of high end talent that’s leaving every year, and to a few $elect place$ It $eem$. I get wanting to expand your horizons, but when you see that it is still to the same KKK and meth towns that it was 4 to 5 years previously, then I think you have to wonder.

It’s not a coincidence that’s it’s always the highest rated guys that “want to see other places”

It's also no coincidence that these places (Alabama, Georgia, Clemson, Ohio), are usually places that nobody ever wants to see.

Wow! Very underrated post.

Devils Advocate: It’s also no coincidence that both Gerald Willis III and his brother Landon Collins wanted to get out of Louisiana (both dissing their mom on National Signing Day on ESPN who wanted them at LSU.) They both had the opportunity to go to an SEC school in the backyard. These guys chose to get outta town.

This thread was started to bring light to a topic that too many fans overlook and don't want to admit, AND THAT IS "some recruits don't want to stay home or stay in-state and play for the hometown team" AND fans also overlook the fact that "these recruits don't always grow up loving the hometown team" for ex: ALL SOFLA RECRUITS AREN'T DIEHARD CANE FANS... That's fact, but some fans don't see it like that, they see it one way THAT RECRUIT is from SoFla SO he should be a Miami Hurricane!!

I'm not dumb, stupid or retarded I KNOW THE BAG GAME, IS ALIVE AND WELL!! But for every stud that leaves Miami, it's not all because of a bag.. SOME OF THESE KID'S JUST WANT OUT OF SOFLA.. And the comment Willis made about his reason for not picking the hometown Tigers, is the same reasons for a lot of recruits that decides to go outside of their home town or home state..

I can sympathize. I don't live in Florida anymore but I call Miami home. Lots of friends still there and would be great to be able to see them more often. However, I also have family in Miami that is 100% non stop drama. Love my family, but if I moved to Miami I would be constantly sucked into a drama vortex. I would like to move back to Florida someday but with at least a 2 hr buffer zone between me and family. Cocoa Beach or Tampa sound nice.
I used to hate Cocoa Beach. Boring, at least for me. Not a big drinker or bar-goer. Not into surfing, so there was very little to do. So glad to get away.

I'm sure other people love it.
