It doesn't matter if we get Howard or Hamilton, etc...

The thing to focus on is that with a 6-6 record, the Shapiro stuff, negative recruiting, the loss of the bowl PR, the facilities nonsense, etc, etc, we're not only IN IT for some top kids that we have no right to even be sniffing, but we've got some of them on board already. Can you imagine what's going to happen when the handcuffs come off???

Yeah, Howard is local. Local from a school we've had a bad track record with, and he was DEAD SET against staying home. But here we are, in the game, fighting it out. Same goes for some other recruits that we've landed, turned, or got to visit, etc.

My point is that this staff can recruit well with one hand tied behind its back and a broken toe. Are they recruiting national championship classes yet? Maybe. Maybe not. But they are improving the roster a ton, and are certainly getting us back in the direction of top 10 status.

I can't wait to see what these guys can do with no probation chatter after a 10 win season.

We have no right to have this class right now. No right. I am truly amazed. I'd love to land Howard, etc. But that's a micro issue. The greater, more important macro issue, who we are and what this staff can do on the trail, has been answered IMHO.

This staff deserves so much praise. I really can't emphasize it enough. Regardless if we flip anyone this week or not. We've got a real staff, fellas.

I hope we pull another kid or two like all of us. But the more important thing to take note of is that we finally have the engines running... the ship has stopped listing and is pointed in the right direction, finally.

ITS GREAT TO BE.

I agree

But getting Tracy would be a big "**** YOU WE"RE STILL MIAMI" to ERRRRRBODY.

Maybe my expectations have been beaten into the ground, but I am honestly already happy with this class.

I wish we were able to land a playmaker like Price at TE, but thats it. CB has been properly addressed and DT has been targeted and a band aid is in place, with still a chance for a shocker.

It's all in place for next year though. Golden is out there putting in WORK and that will absolutely pay off. So much of recruiting is about early relationships and he is making his mark. Although our roster looks shaky next year, we still should be able to make noise in an awful conference.

I'm good, the rest will just be gravy.

This class is outstanding, the problem with recruiting is you forget about the studs you have committed and focus on the hopefuls. If we just sign all of our commitments, this staff deserves a medal. It is miraculous to me what they have accomplished coming off a mediocre season and the looming Shapiro BS. Of course landing Howard or Hamilton would be nice.

Tired of hearing people complain about how we "stopped recruiting Howard"... he stopped showing interest in us and like a smart business man golden made sure he had plan b1,b2,b3 and so forth in place so we don't get stuck with another wide out or heaven forbid a punter switching to corner..

The only commit that is wavering in the slightest is Northrup. Everybody else is like a family. We got something good going down here, hopefully all this translates to better play on the field and a lot more wins!

This happens every season.

Yes, it does matter. I think we have a good, solid, class considering the circumstances. AG is obviously a competent recruiter, although he certainly places a lot of stock in his evaluations. But that's okay. His recruiting next year seems to be top-3 class material. However, I'd be willing to bet that AG and the rest of the coaches themselves would tell you that landing a cornerback such as Howard DOES matter. It's not the end of the world if he doesn't, it doesn't even really reflect that negatively on Golden & crew if he doesn't, but getting a guy who supposedly has the talent to start day 1 at UM, in a position of need, when we are rebuilding certainly matters.

Golden is beginning the lock down of south florida and has already created excitement that recruits are reacting to. I have seen more news regarding Miami recruiting the past month than
in the last 4 years. Every coach comes into Florida to Poach kids. Sorry but now it will not be as easy.

Al Golden is not going to get out worked. That's for sure. I'm not into moral victories. Golden just pulled a kid from Tampa Plant so Miami's credibility with Robert Weiner is definitely moving in the right direction. Golden is getting kids from Mark Guandolo and Damon Cogdill. He's starting to pull from kids from some of the best programs in the state. Pulling Hamilton would be huge because starting a pipeline with Don Bosco Prep would be in Miami's best interest.

Very good point. Interestingly, it was Randy who said he wanted pipelines into the states winningest programs. However, if was only able to build his pipline to Miami Northwestern High.

gotdamnit...we now have currently staked CLAIM in The Tampa AREA......and that is BIG...as Tampa area is starting to become the #2 as far as talent goes to S.FLA(dade, broward, palm,Ft Myers/Naples)..........

I liked what we did there.....

like the schools we target...(all of them) in our dade, broward, palm area......

the organization and building relationships...**** coach cogdell at Miramar thinks alot of Golden(and he's a guy everyone thought hated the u)...I think the boat is turning...think were one class away from acc champonships.

Well said.

Being shut out of Plant was a recruiting travesty and Shannon's recruiting was directly related to his inner circle mentality. That **** just doesn't fly in this day and age.

this is a fantastic thread...

I too really like what weve done ALREADY with this class

some excellent points about the 'recruitng game' in this thread

Golden continues to bring it... and he seems relentless
