Is this the best Recruiting job in college football?

This staff finished 6-7 including losses to Duke,FIU and LA Tech and closed with Harrell, Knighton,Dunson,Smith and Williams on top of Landing the best QB and DE transfers available. After all that happened the Canes finished with a 12th/13th Ranked Class.
I don't know if it's the best, but I will say that i am pleasantly surprised based off of how we ended this season. Williams made a great point though. When asked why he came, he stated that all the games we loss were close. Not that it makes us feel any better while going through but if you make just a few changes, especially offensively, this team is undefeated. Losing by field goals with missed xtra points..... I believe he made a lot of good moves that will only help this team move forward next year. You gotta believe that the kids who hung in their the entire time we were losing and did not waiver on their commitments are the dogs we need to help change this culture. I am cautiously optimistic, however, I'll reserve my judgement until after the first game.

Al Golden pulled a top 10 class after going 6-6. Stop actin like Manny did something unprecedented. It’s a good class but there are still questions. Could it have been worse of course. The staff deserves their props

When Shannon and even Golden did it we were coming off over two straight decades of being a perennial Top 10 team preseason, interrupted only by the NCAA pummeling us. We were viewed completely different than we are now.

Regardless, those classes were Top 10 cause of quantity more than quality. This class has both, plus the #1 offensive and defensive guys in the portal.

It's not the same thing.

In 2012, Miami's last championship was still recent enough that high school recruits might have remembered watching Miami field the greatest team in CFB history. In 2020, it's been almost 2 decades of irrelevance. None of the recruits were even born the last time we won a championship. Yet somehow Diaz still landed the #12 class (not including the transfers!) I'm much more impressed by this #12 rank than by Golden's #10.

Wasn't that class only top 10 because we had like 35 commits lol. Did he also get the best QB and DE available in the portal?

Once again it’s a very good class but all this best recruiting job stuff is hyperbole. Also, to act there still aren’t holes in this class is ignorant

Easily the best record adjusted recruiting class in the country. Very impressed by how they closed this out. Win 10+ next year and I imagine we'll be sniffing top 5 classes or better. I really believe SFla recruits are begging us to win so they can come here over the $EC. Look at 2017 and the class that followed for all the evidence you need. But I'm not saying anything new.

Yep.
2011 Class: #33 (7-6 previous year under Shannon)
2012 Class: #10 (6-6 with NCAA scandal and potential death penalty being bandied about)
2013 Class: #14 (7-5 with NCAA scandal ongoing)
2014 Class: #12 (9-3)
2015 Class: #27 (6-7)

I would've PROBABLY AGREED if the staff would've added more to the OLine.. We can get the best playmakers in the world, BUT IF the OLine performs like it did in 2019, Manny will be firing another OC..

Here’s the thing though, bringing in freshmen offensive linemen is good for future depth but it does nothing to help the line next season. The line was garbage last year because at least half the guys they trotted out there weren’t ready to play at a college level yet. Those guys have skills but you can’t throw a bunch of first and second year players out on a line and expect them to play well. Offensive line is one of the few positions where freshmen rarely make an impact. Even when you see the rare freshman starter, he’s usually surrounded by upper class men. We really need a grad transfer tackle to come in and be that rock while giving some of these younger guys a chance to get bigger and stronger. When the line’s problem is inexperience, you can’t fix that by recruiting more inexperienced players.

It's a top notch recruiting job. Is it the best overall, considering the circumstances? I think yes, but I understand the disagreement. One thing to keep in mind is that in 2012, Golden's stock was still very high- fans were scared he'd leave for PSU. There were reasons for kids to buy his sales pitch. On the other hand, Diaz is sitting on a red hot seat after 1 year. Yet he still convinced kids that Miami would be competing for championships. Thats impressive.

If you are saying the OL recruiting is a hole in the class, I disagree. It would be nice but not a huge need. I think the current young OL that we currently have is going to be good to very good in a spread offense. Enos O was poison to an inexperienced line. That being said, next offseason we will need to look at restocking.

This is the part I find absurd. The circumstances you are asking to be considered were largely created by the staff.

Celebrate the class. Praise the kids we got. Be excited to see them in orange and green. Absolutely.

But I will not give the staff extra credit for having to overcome their own dismal performance last season. It's the No. 13 class (including Moise), which is right about where UM recruits, historically. No better, no worse. They did good. Not best (that would be 1st)... just good.

We’ve also discussed the fact that most of Golden’s classes were boosted by high profile singees who never qualified or enrolled in school. It seemed like every year there was at least a couple blue chip players who never made it on campus. Outside of Moise, (who is one of the lower rated prospects) there aren’t any guys like that in this class.

If you consider the average class ranking for this class is 89.97 (which is higher than any class that Golden or Shannon ever had) and the fact that they also attracted two All American caliber players as transfers, you can’t downplay the level of success this offseason.

Golden did pull a 5 star. All be it, a legacy player, but he did it.

Some of you fans are full of **** you can never enjoy the moment is your life that bad smfh Support the team bring positive energy and positive energy will follow facts.

Do I have this right...

1. Talk all off-season about expectations and winning.
2. Coach the team to a losing season in the Coastal, with some embarrassing losses along the way.
3. Land the No. 13 recruiting class in the 2020 composite rankings.
4. Point to the losing season as a reason the class wasn't even better.
5. Have the work done by the coaches lauded by UM fans as one of the best in college football, in large part because of the poor record on the field.

This is a good class (a couple of holes, but good overall and with quality recruits), and it is historically right about where I expect UM to be ranked. I'm also thrilled to have King, Roche, and Borregales as GTs. But I refuse to give extra credit points to the coaches' recruiting because of the coaches' poor on-field product.

For some historical context, Randy had the No. 1 class in 2008 after winning 5 games in 2007. Golden had the No. 10 class in 2012 after 6 wins in 2011. Each in their second season at UM. Reflect on that for a moment.

Bro don’t bring up standards and results. This is the new Miami.

We are the highest team ranked in recruiting with a losing record. **** of a job.

Just like the draft, it will take a couple years to determine the real quality of this years class. Randy and Golden’s classes were not so stellar in retrospect. I think the difference this years is the major changes in coaching and the offensive system. If we cannot coach or if we stick with a system that doesn’t fit the personnel we will continue to suck.

Shannon’s class was the #1 class in the nation. It was a big class, but that probably only meant it was ranked #1 rather than about #5. It’s not like it would have been ranked #20 in quality.

“Best backyard in the game.”

We just need a competent staff. Fixed it for ya.
