Is Kam untouchable?

His biggest issue is he goes into hero mode. If the offense wasn't pure *** he probably plays a little more fundamentally sound.

I love KK but he‘s become a feast or famine player the last two years. Which shows you how bogus awards are after the season. He’s given up half a dozen big plays minimum playing for picks. Oc’s know’s he watches film and does class room work. But they watch film too. They use his aggression against him. He needs to come back but you know how this normally goes at Miami. They can never think of the bigger picture. Tbh I’m not sure he’ll be able to handle the physicality at the next level. He has trouble at the college level with that.

The guy is down on the ground every week after delivering a hit. You may be right about the physicality at the next level.

I’d like to see him get coached from someone other than Addae or TRob. Someone from a lower level, still experienced and qualified, that is used to coaching guys with half his talent. Sort of like Guidry except at the position coach level. Really instill some emphasis on fundamentals and system. Take away some bad habits. Might not change anything but sort of putting a theory I had to the test.

If and the big word is “ if“ but If they all come back next year could be huge. Adding Burroughs, Messidor , Kelly with the young guys already here and more portal help would make this D loaded beyond belief. What we’re doing this thin on the DL is amazing.

The key will be a portal qb and I expect to get an experienced starter. Mario has a lot of pressure on him next year especially with the national media. They see the recruiting and the young guys playing this year so they expect another jump next year. It’ll be like Norvells year three , shut up or put up time.

There Is positives even if we’re negative and used to the late season collapses. The defense and effort by the entire team is different than most Years. They don’t quit and play to the clock hits zero. Even NC State inside the five , most Miami teams lay down but they fought until the last play even though they knew they’d lost. There is positives even if we don’t want to see them. Mario being a putz against GT caused that though.

He played a bunch of snaps last year. Injuries happen. Zion is in his own stratosphere and isn’t comparable.

He had a freakish foot issue that just wouldn’t get right. Even though they thought he’s eventually be back. I’d much rather have him full go in 24 rather than chancing him in meaningless games. I was on record if he’s not back by NC State is shut him down.

Its tough with him. He's the kind of safety I love. He's a ball hawk and he's not scared to play the run either. Our problems here with him are heightened because he's counted on to make up for his counterparts deficiencies in coverage. If he had someone just as solid opposite of him we wouldn't be able to make out most of his mistakes. With things how they are each and every one becomes a significant error. Sortve damned if we do damned if we don't.

Kam is a **** good tackler, excellent at playing the ball, and is limited only by two things:

Undisciplined play and lack of elite measurables/speed.

He really should come back and improve his consistency. Those mistakes get you cut in the pros.

Pretty sure kiper has him as the #1 safety though so not sure you could do better than being ranked at the top of your position group. Kiper even has JW as like his #4 or 5 safety...I'd love for kinchens and the rest of the group to come back. Just 1 year at Miami I'd love the whole upperclassmen group band together and decide to return with hopes at making a true run. Unfortunately miami players don't think that way so i expect 5 or 6 to leave when basically everyone could return
 
LT, Kinchens, JWilliams and JCohen are gonzo. 0% chance they stay in college IMHO.

Kam has great instincts and a want of the big play. I love that about his game as not everyone has that mindset. They would rather always play it safe and have a fear of making a mistake.

His mistakes though are often huge. He gotta be smarter and understand the situation. He's gotta go for it when he's sure and process things faster to know when he won't be at the right place at the right time. Basically learn some more restraint, trust those around him. When he can't get there, anticipate where it is in the next 3 to 5 feet so he can be there.

He'll continue to get better as he develops his game. He's got sky high potential.
 
He's had some of the same issues here as he had in high school...he's not a wild man like James Williams, but plays undisciplined ball. He makes a ton of plays, too. Wish he'd come back and tighten up on his game but it is what it is. Sophomore All Americans don't stick around for senior seasons too often.

You know who would love Kam Kinchens...the Cowboys. They got a few of those hyperaggressive, wild man players on defense that get beat a lot as a result.

Having one of those types back there at safety is good for the soul. But having two wild men back there leads to a lot of busts we've seen over the past few years.

Mario needs to recruit this team to return, and get difference makers out of the portal. Put up or shut up time...
