Is Jaden Harris 4.38-40 verified?

I really don't know. It was a genuine question. I know there are a bunch of track-focused dudes on the board. Didn't we have someone who constantly posted all players' or prospects' track times?
I track them as well to use as a control for a model I built to convert to 40 times (I would call it reasonably successful).

Kids are so different. A kid who focuses, learns a better start, gets his technique can improve .2-.5 seconds in a year. Most kids are going to see a wide variance within one year, let alone from year-to-year. Track conditions, wind conditions, when the event takes place all factors in.

Again, I'd say the regression on it shows it to be a nice variable to have your model, but fairly insignificant overall.

He ran a 4.38 HH time and that was coming off an injury. I'd say he runs in the high 4 . 4's electric. He has great speed.
Thanks for chiming in!

It’s the CiS way to have to question everything, even when the tape does not lie. Kid is obliterating angles on film against high level comp, and people still saying he’s not that fast.

The 40 is more about the start than actual long speed. A 10.9 100 is a fast time.

He's fast and smooth on film. No issues with his speed.
I agree. The 40 is definitely more centered around the start. It’s why so many really fast kids don’t get laser times in the 4.4 range, but are really fast on the football field.

Excellent post and explanation! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise.

I saw an article that reported his time in the 40 was 4.38. Anyone know if this is the case?

Cribby.......talk to us!
If he runs a 4.5 or so it's faster than what we've seen at cb for quite some time For prior players and talent evaluators can you expand on his ability to tackle, ability to locate ball, hips, etc? Who does he remind you of? Can he be serviceable next year if Rique, Blades, and Ivey are out? Regardless of this young man's potential, I'm hoping we can still get a starting cb or two from the portal to allow this young'n to develop his body and knowledge of the new defense over the season. Go Canes

How much faster do kids typically get from HSJr to HSSr year?
Fair point. Depends on physical development, but there's no guarantee of running faster as a senior. Not sure if he was injured late last track season. Didn't see where he competed at the state meet. Hard to find legit track times. For what it's worth, did see he ran 11-flat at a middle school meet.
