Interview with N'Kosi Perry

Mentioned elsewhere we could see a Kenny Kelly (Rosier/Shireffs)/Dorsey (Perry) '99 scenario. Will be surprised if Perry just gets here late and grabs the QB spot outright.

I think some of you are confusing "crowning" him with saying that he has a legitimate chance to win the job, which he does. The fact is that Richt will give him every chance to win this job, now let's see if he can take it.

I see this playing out very similar to 3 yrs ago when Kaaya got here. If one of the guys already on campus separate themselves and takes charge it's their job. If no one really shows out, Perry will have a legit shot to come in and show what he's got. If he can be on par with or very close he could win the job.

Perry has a lot to prove. The talent is there, but crowning him this early would be a mistake. This kid needs to earn it, like all Cane greats have in the past. One of the reasons Kaaya won the starting job was not only due to the lack of talent in front of him, but also because he worked his a** off in the offseason to learn the playbook and connect with his future teammates.

Can Perry do the same? I believe so; however, it would be a disservice to this program if Perry is penciled in as a starter right away. Let him go toe-to-toe with two veterans who are fighting for the chance to lead this team and write their own legacys. Competition breeds success. This has been true in the past and it remains true today.

Situation with Kayaa was also different because the program was in the gutter and there were zero expectations. Golden could "afford" to take his lumps with a true frosh QB for greater returns in future years. Richt doesn't have that luxury. Future is now. 10 wins is a must, especially with the butter soft schedule.

Would be a **** of story if he did win the gig. If Richt thinks a true frosh can win him 10 games, so be it. Still seems more likely Perry gets sprinkled in gradually and if he's the goods give him the reigns later in the season. Once you go down the true freshman road it's hard to go back.

This kid reminds me of Rakeem Cato with a much better arm...

High football IQ, terrific arm & accurate passer, he's been the best QB in the state since his Junior year.

He's not as out of the QB race as a lot of people may think, I go back & forth with who I think will be the starter, but I always hope Perry comes in & wins the job above all.

I think Rosier or Shireffs start the year, but I would love to be wrong and have this kid come in and take the job.

I still think Rosier or Shirreffs will be the starter vs. BCC and Arky St. My money is on Rosier. During those games however, Perry will come in and play situationally - maybe the 2nd half vs. BCC, maybe even more vs. Arky depending on how it goes. Then look for a "real" starter to be named for FSU, especially if Perry has a hot hand in those early games and in practice. The QB battle won't really be decided this year until FSU, IMO.

Bull****. I talk good about the defense, wrs, tes, donaldson, rbs. I even said sheriffs could be solid. Just because i dont believe rosier or sheriffs is the answer at qb doesnt make me negative about everything.

The sentiment is that Shirreffs and Rosier weren't highly-rated coming out of H.S. so they can't possibly be any good.
