Interesting stat (NFL Top 100)

Couldn't be happier for Allen Hurns. Even his biggest fans probably never thought he'd ever make the Top 100 list. It's awesome to see how good he's become.

So you're saying Richt did less with the highest proportion of elite NFL talent at Georgia in recent times?

(Awaits flogging) I kid....sort of. Which Georgia players were on there besides Atkins?

i been saYING THIS THOUGH..HE HASNT HAD THE QB

He's had...

David Greene (set SEC records)
Matt Stafford (broke some of said SEC records)
Aaron Murray (Owns a bunch of SEC passing records)

He's had QB's to win big.

My take on those three guys is that Richt is a qb guru and can make not so good qb's look better than they are.

David Greene- Got drafted, never played, was on the Seattle depth chart behind Seneca Wallace.
Aaron Murray- Got drafted in the 5th round, KC depth chart behind Alex Smith. No NFL stats available?
Matt Stafford- 1st round pick, number 1 overall, with a career passer rating of 85.8.. for comparison Tannehill has an 85.2, Jay Cutler 86, Matt Ryan 90.9

Them boys looked real good in college tho. I can't wait to see what he does with Kaaya.

This list is trash, though. Larry Fitzgerald as a top 30 player, in 2016? Great rebound year but cmon. Same with Cam at #1 . Dude was like 60s last year and when he regresses he'll be outta the top 30 after this year.

But Cam was the best player in the league last year. They make those lists off the season that just passed. So yea, Larry was arguably a top 30 player last year....

We haven't had much success with our own South Florida talent - underrated or highly touted. Is it all on the coaches? Is it the wrong kids? It's weird because when we take a 5* South Florida kid, they're average at best. Others go on to be All-Americans. When we take under the radar South Florida kids, they suck. Others go on to be All-Americans and top 5 picks. I hate Al Golden's guts, but there is more to it than bad coaching. We have not hit on much of anything in the past, idk, 10 years.

Why is that not bad coaching for all 10 years? 5* come to Miami, gets coached up and sucks. 3* comes to Miami, gets coached up and sucks. Our coaching has sucked for years. The guys who have done well are all self-coached types like Duke, Brad, DP .... Some kids are going to make it no matter what; so are going to suck no matter what; coaching makes huge difference in between -- that is where we have fallen off. Our great teams had some great players, some good coaches and a lot of guys playing over their heads because of the first two. The exception being that monster talent base Butch left us -- I could have coached those guys.

How many of those top 100 are from the state of Florida @DMoney?

Good question. Aside from the six South Florida guys, you have Khalil Mack (Fort Pierce Westwood), Brandon Marshall (Lake Howell), Blake Bortles (Oviedo), Linval Joseph (Alachua), Gary Barnridge (Middleburg) and Sammy Watkins (South Fort Myers).

So six from South Florida, six from the rest of the state.

Absurd.

You're probably right, it just seems too "easy" of an answer. There have been guys go on and to really well under some terrible head coaches from down here as well. Here's to hoping Richt and the gang can fix all of our ills.
