I know I'm a broken record with South Florida stuff (@Cribby), but I need something to break up my D-Wade depression.

The NFL just released its annual list of Top 100 players. There were 6 players from South Florida on the list-- Antonio Brown, Patrick Peterson, Geno Atkins, Devonta Freeman, Allen Hurns and Lavonte David.

That's more than the last four national champions (Alabama, Ohio State, FSU, Auburn) combined.

Interestingly, the college with the most players on the list was Mark Richt's Georgia Bulldogs, with 6. The Canes had 3 in a down year.

So you're saying Richt did less with the highest proportion of elite NFL talent at Georgia in recent times?

(Awaits flogging) I kid....sort of. Which Georgia players were on there besides Atkins?

Half of those guys weren't heavily recruited.....and it seems like Miami recruited every kid at the West except Lavonte David that year..

We haven't had much success with our own South Florida talent - underrated or highly touted. Is it all on the coaches? Is it the wrong kids? It's weird because when we take a 5* South Florida kid, they're average at best. Others go on to be All-Americans. When we take under the radar South Florida kids, they suck. Others go on to be All-Americans and top 5 picks. I hate Al Golden's guts, but there is more to it than bad coaching. We have not hit on much of anything in the past, idk, 10 years.

As a fan, that's been the worse frustration, some of the best players to ever come out of south florida has come out the past 10 years. Right coach we get at least 4 of the 6 listed. Not sure about Brown or David. Others were big-time coming out of high school.

Richt had some incredible talent, just not even built-in bulldogs. Think about how South Florida high school teams go up to Georgia and rag doll them. Kids in South Florida just play at another level, mentally and physically.

Is Andy Dalton really the 35th best player in the NFL?

UGA has consistently had a large # of players in the top 100. The U only had 3 this year.

He's had...

David Greene (set SEC records)
Matt Stafford (broke some of said SEC records)
Aaron Murray (Owns a bunch of SEC passing records)

He's had QB's to win big.

RS took Al Hurns in 2010. Prioritized him over every wide out in the state that year and he proved to better than everyone ranked ahead of him. This is the top 100 and only 6 on from S.fla are on it and Hurns is one which is good. But beyond the top 100 we still have good players in the league like Benjamin, Duke, Perriman, etc.

Yea we can argue Richt had the best qbs in his conference. He has developed some good qbs in the conference. Neither Bama, LSU, and UF(since 2010) has had good qbs but they still won. The best in Bama history statistically was a former RB playing QB.
