Insight into $EC bag system

After watching the whole thing, I’m not even mad at Saban and Bama it UGA. All they are doing is taking advantage of a system the fvckin ncaa created by not allowing payers to get paid. Fact: the ncaa made 1 Billion in revenue in 2017.

Revenue doesn't mean much. But for perspective there are 460,000 athletes in the NCAA right now, which is only 2100$ per athlete using REVENUE figures. Not profits.

Spare me the “taking advantage of a messed up system.” Rich schools win bc they have the money and can blow it. It’s ruined college football. These kids get cost of attendance money and free educations totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars. Free top notch tutoring, free gear, food, nutrionists, weight training and a life of luxury on the road.

Sure they play a rough sport and spend a lot of time dedicated their life to it, but a vast majority of people would trade where they are for where the players are and their celebrity status. A lot of this will stop when we quit treating these kids as victims and see them as what they are, blessed.

LOL

Every benefit they get (gear, nutrition) is only an investment by the school to have a better product. How much are schools giving for post graduate studies? Have you looked at a college roster to see how many kids have the same bs majors so their school doesnt interfere with football?

It's a business. These kids are involved in the business of college football from the day a school shows interest. Kids pretend to get a degree and schools pretend to care about anything other than on-field record.

True, but if you sum up all the football revenues for each school that’s part of the NCAA, the figure is way over a billion.

They can get a real degree if they want too, plenty of them do. If you want to see a crazy schedule that takes up fall and spring go check out a baseball team. Those kids do it for half scholarships if they’re lucky and spend way more time on the road than football teams, with half the perks

That number includes women on the trinity baptist swim team. Obviously no one thinks every player should get paid. I agree revenue doesn't mean much. However, if players were to get paid it would be probably only be D1 football players and basketball players. Even then it won't be every school. bethune Cookman won't be paying their players. Even Miami we are not going to be paying guys like Bar Milo and most of the guys would be getting paid very small sums. Players like Tua would be getting the big bags.

And *** pretty much at will. That sh*t is expensive in the normal world.

Players should get paid. Paying players won't stop the bag game. Why would it? If some 5* kid loves Miami and can make the same amount as he would at bama, you're telling me bama boosters won't open their wallets? That makes no sense.

The only thing that could stop the bags would be real enforcement, and there's no way to do that. Even if there were, boosters would just get busy finding ways around it.

The FBI had no problem with enforcement regarding basketball. They could easily drop the hammer on the SEC and others if they wanted to do so. The chatter the week before signing day alone would be all they need.

Until the Feds including the IRS get involved it won't stop. I am surprised the IRS hasn't started an investigation of these cash payments.
They may have, but it can take years to build a case that will result in convictions. Especially one with so many parties involved and so much money.

Well this guy solved it, might as well keep everything the same because it is working beautifully.

Society and the people surrounding these kids need to look at the odds of making it to the NFL and actually having a career there. Then realize that the degree is the vast majority of cases is going to be how they make a living in the future. It is fine to get confidence and try and make a shot at the NFL. Though they need to be told from early on that the gift they have is going to get them a degree so they can get a good job. It is not the colleges or coaches fault if the kids never took school seriously and just go for the easiest degree they can. Also not the schools fault or the coaches when the kid leaves early with no degree, lots of responsibilities, and not really a shot to make the league. Your kind of attitude and mindset is actually what hurts them the most. Giving them the excuse and the mindset that they aren't incredibly lucky to get the degree.

Can you imagine a governing body deciding which players get paid. People think the NCAA dirty now, just wait.

just allow anyone, in any sport, to make money on their own image, wont stop all the bags but will help

I laughed when someone said if all the players can get paid the same by Alabama or Miami, they'd choose Miami. Problem is you're looking at that as a 1 player scenario. While we might be able to get 1 or 2 players in that system, bama is going to get a whole team from it. There's a reason they can afford an elite coaching staff and then hire a bunch of fired head coaches as "consultants" while we would be happy to have decent coordinators.

Players do get paid. 60k tuition, great facilities, books, place to stay, nutrition, strength training, chance to hone their skills and a shot at the nfl
