I'll keep saying this, If we are going to recruit OOS. Inner City kids should take priority. Inner City kids from OOS have always done well here. And more timea than not, they will fit in with the culture of the Locker Room.

Baltimore
E. St. Louis
Las Vegas

All represented Big time yesterday. Our biggest OOS recruit is from Atlanta.

Bishop Gorman is a private school. Definitely not inner city lol but I get what you're saying. They tend to play with a chip on their shoulder.

Bishop Gorman in located within the city limits of Vegas where city kids attend

I agree although to be fair Brevin isn’t considered “inner city” per se. he went to Bishop Gorman (private schools) and his family lives in Summerland the same area Floyd Mayweether has a house at.

The idea is to basically grab blue chippers from OOS and making the foundation of your roster, Florida-based. That's always been the blue print for success.

Not any OOS blue chipper.

Ones with a mindset similar to SFLA kids

If we are recruiting out of state, go for the best regardless of location....

Don't agree at all. You take talented guys who can get the job done, wherever they are from and whatever their background is.

We waste our time recruiting OOS country boys whose families get scared and send them to FSU

Well, at that point that's up to the staff to find out which kids are a good fit. Brevin Jordan is not from the inner city, but he's one of our best players and early on looks like a 3 and out kid. When I implied OOS blue chippers, I meant guys that fit the program like Willis does. We missed on DJ Johnson two years ago.

During the late 80s and 90s Miami found recruiting success in Houston, Dallas and new orleans.... That success was built on consistent winning.

I kinda see your point however as long as the kid has some talent, is hardworking, n most of all has some smarts idc if the kid comes from mars. Not all inner cities all the same especially if your comparing them to Miami.

East St Louis has a **** of a program but the only elite studs they had come out of there the last decade were Terry Hawthorne (Illinois) and Kraig Appleton (Wisconsin) from 08, Terry Beckner (Missouri) and obviously Jeff Thomas. All 4 were top 100 guys coming out.

Everyone else that comes out of that school is usually goes to Missouri, Illinois, and smaller D1 programs.

That's the biggest thing of all. You want kids that come in with work ethic above all else. Sure, talent is good to have as every kid has their ceiling. But if you get a 5-star kid who expects to be handed **** and refuses to work, he's worth about a 2-star at best.

I think some of you are missing the point.

Maybe I should have said Metro kids. Brevin is someone I would consider a city kid. Allen Bailey a county boy. see the difference

I’d also add Houston/Dallas area - we used to regularly poach guys from there

I think Haselwood is that type. But you’re right - some guys feel miami (the city, team) is too “urban”.
