I wanna root for this kid and I don’t like hoping a player is a bust. That being said, this kid is giving everyone a reason to hope he gets buried on the depth chart for forever.

I also don’t like the excuse “oh he’s just a kid.” He’s going to college, he’s 18 years old- he’s an adult.

He will regret this, and when Bama does to him what he did to us, and they like someone over him more and he either doesn’t get significant snaps or gets dropped from the class, he’ll have to live with that and I won’t give a sh*t.

Gawd I wish we had a program and boosters willing to do wat it takes to make Miami great again.

@ Stefan... Excellent article. CFB recruiting can be a dirty business. Sounds like this young man deceived and manipulated Miami's staff for months and then suddenly changed his mind. Hmmm... The young man had every right to change his mind. It's the planned deception pattern that is shameful. It's probably good he going elsewhere. It's obvious he lacks moral fiber to be a Cane.

St. Thomas Aquinas 4-star DT Braylen Ingraham committed to Alabama tonight, spurning the local Miami Hurricanes for the national champs. Before this past weekend, that would have been considered shocking news, as Ingraham was UM’s top target at DT for months and he was considered a heavy Miami-lean publicly.

Privately, though, Ingraham had given the Miami staff even more reason to expect he would be a Hurricane. CIS learned after the FSU game from a trusted source that Ingraham was a silent commit to the Canes and had told the staff he was going to be in this class. He had been wanting to wait to make things official so he could make his announcement on his mother’s birthday. It’s unclear exactly how long Ingraham was a silent commitment to the Canes, but either way, Miami was certainly penciling him into their class up until this weekend.

As it closed in on the weekend before his announcement, things started to change and momentum had begun to shift to Bama. By Monday, I had confirmed with an STA source and a source close to the recruitment that he was all but set to Alabama. Both sources declined to comment on exactly what precipitated the flip to the Crimson Tide.

Alabama has been a thorn in the side of Miami’s D-Line recruiting efforts this cycle and Ingraham’s recruitment essentially played out exactly like Grayson (GA) 4-star DE Kevin Harris’ situation just a few months back in May. Coming off a visit to UM, Harris told Miami he was coming, but wanted to hold off to make a planned public announcement on TV. The weekend before his announcement, though, Nick Saban got into Harris’ ear and convinced him to flip to the Crimson Tide, leaving Miami empty-handed.

Even though they were caught off guard, just like when Harris’ defection occurred, Miami will have to pick themselves up and recover quickly with their defensive line recruiting, as this cycle is less than 2 months away from the early signing period.

Who could Miami go after on the D-Line now? While I fully expect Miami to continue their pursuit of Lehigh Senior 4-star DT Quashon Fuller, CIS has confirmed that Miami has been in contact with two “new” names as of late, which are Forest Park (GA) 4-star DE Justin Eboigbe and Many (LA) 3-star DE Myron Warren.

Eboigbe in particular is interesting because he’s a name that has been on UM’s radar in the past. Back in February, former UM D-Line coach Craig Kuligowski offered Eboigbe, however, shortly afterwards, Kuligowski defected to Alabama, and contact between Eboigbe and Miami died down. It wasn’t long until Eboigbe followed Kuligowski to the Crimson Tide and committed to play in Tuscaloosa. Things have changed lately for Eboigbe though, and he has elected to look around at other schools, one of which has been Miami. Eboigbe told CIS yesterday that he is working on setting up an official to Miami next month, so there seems to be some legitimate interest on his part. Although Miami is currently recruiting him as a DE, Eboigbe has the body type at 6’5” 265 that UM likes to move inside to DT within a year or so after the player hits campus.

The Canes have also been in touch with Warren in the past few weeks, and like his potential as an edge rusher at 6’4” 235. Although Miami has not come through with an offer as of yet, Warren told CIS that UM has intimated one could be coming soon. For his part, Warren seems completely wide open and would like to take a visit to Miami soon. Texas, Oregon, and Tennessee are some others that have offered Warren as of now.

In terms of players you could see Miami get involved with down the road, keep your eye on East (UT) 4-star DT Siaki Ika and Cedar Grove (GA) 4-star DT Rashad Cheney. Although Miami has not been in contact with either as of yet, both Ika and Cheney are on Miami’s radar and both told CIS they would definitely be interested in taking visits if they started hearing from the Canes. Cheney is the more interesting name here, as he already has a UM offer and a teammate of his has been heavily connected to UM in recent months: 5-star WR Jadon Haselwood.

Also, don’t be surprised if Miami kicks the tires on Carol City 3-star DT Malcolm Ray or Miami Northwestern 3-star DT Calijah Kancey. Miami was in contact with both during the spring evaluation period, but never pulled a trigger on an offer, and the two went ahead and committed to USF (Ray) and Pitt (Kancey) instead. Ray in particular has had a monster senior season for the dominant Carol City defense in 2018 and has seen some bigger programs begin to take interest in him, including FSU.

We’re not an elite program. Alabama gets who they want and we get their table scraps. If we want to ever become elite again, we have to find projects where we can’t land blue chips, develop talent, and convince blue chippers that we’re their most sufefire path to the NFL.

That will be ******* great if he gets pushed out. Unfortunately some have to suffer for the rest to flourish and we just need some recruiting versions of the McIntosh/Norton cautionary variety.

"Silent commit" is the buzz words that people are talking about and saying that the staff shouldn't take them. A public commit that's still shopping around is the same as a silent. They both might leave you for a better offer in their eyes. Outside of the LOI being signed the safest commit is from a recruit that shuts their recruitment down completely.

If a kid wants to be silent you take that silent commit and communicate with the kid that you're still looking for other guys in case he changes his mind like Ingraham did. The staff is at fault for not continuing to recruit the position. They suppose to take him as a silent if he has a future date when he wants to commit. The staff need to stop with this all eggs in one basket mess and cover their bases.

since cmr got here we’re good with recruiting with the exception of 2 positions. DT and OT.
It doesn’t take a genius to know that those positions make or break your team even with average qb play. Those positions are expensive in college football. They go to the top teams for a reason. The usual suspects will get them. Playing time doesn’t matter. Depth at the position doesn’t matter. Proximity to home doesn’t matter. The best dline coach didn’t matter. The number 1 defense in the nation doesn’t t matter. Let’s stop with the lifelong canes fan bullshiiitttee. Stop with the legacy home team my momma wants me to come horse crap. Those dudes want to get paid and those positions pay well.
Until we play that game these kids won’t come.
Neal is a pipe dream. These kids go to bama one time and all that talk and loyalty is swiped from the imemory. This dude we’re talking about named Cane on another thread will clear up his room and replace it with red and white once the bagman comes.
We sit here with one of the best secondaries and skill positioned teams in the country period!!! But no one to come protect them cause of the money train we haven’t caught up to.
Stop blaming kool Simpson Cause dugans got some dudes. Stop acting like we got hasselwood locked up. Elite line recruiting is a different animal.
Lo is the only 5 star we’ve gotten in 3 years!! 3 mother fugging years!!!!
Stop blaming the record. Uga went 7-4 and ended up with the number 1 class.
These people need to realize that the ipf isnt the only thing they have to donate to.
Let’s go after the dudes close to home that are killing it and coach them up cause we ain’t flipping any dt’s from any sec FSU or UF bagmen. But USF and UCF we can absolutely raid and the kids will be extremely happy to play for this U.
FSU hasn’t had anyone decommit. And they ssssuuuccckkk!!!
Flipping dudes from bama reminds me of something sho nuff said in the last dragon: n.... please!!
CMR thinking like he’s still in the sec and dudes are just going to break kids off without him trying and not knowing what’s going on. He didn’t get Sony cause of his charm and persuasion. And Sony was the first one to polish kirby’s ******* as soon as cmr left.
Look at this Wright kid. He tweets Hartley about how he got a canes T-shirt for Xmas and was so happy to get it. Yet the closest he’s been to campus is google maps.
Stevenson Neal and bogle are cashing the fugg out and laughing at us while we type pages and pages of posts “is he coming” “look at the tweet” “ he posted on so and so’s snap chat”.
This staff needs to sack the fugg up and coach some really good 3 stars and earn that bread and have these local studs kick rocks. Sorry guys but nobody respects a pushover and that’s what the U is now. I know we’ not supposed to be like that and be all political to these kids But it’s not working being mr nice guy.
The school better start breaking coaches off as well cause irecruits aren’t the only thing that’s getting raided by the usual suspects.
I posted in the past that the more kids just walk away from the U after committing then the easier it is for the next kid to do it. Do you know why they do it? Cause they don’t respect us.
CMR and Simpson are good dudes. They ain’t urban or saban that have confirmed a- hole personalities. But yet Ingrham goes and does them dirty like that. You do that to people you don’t respect. No other way to describe it. Neg all you want fellas but it’s is what it is.

I will say this may be the Kool affect with this cycle. The kids I question ok the DL all express their discern for Kuntkowski leaving to Baga. Now we did just lose Roberts in 2020 but I hope this isn’t the same affect next year.
