Incredible stat on Miami’s offense

Man I'm too old to see and understand that mularkey.

Kidding (or am I?). I had to blow it up and actually read it, but it appears as though that graphic shows pretty undeniably that our running game is super solid.
I regret not editing the titles into Comic Sans size 50 font sir, but you are correct. Its Points per Play Added versus Sucess Rate on running games over the last 5 weeks in College Football. TL; DR We have been tuff and fyzikal in ACC play

I’m surprised we don’t have a “Dawson Replacement” thread because he will not be our OC next year. That man is getting a HC position somewhere
You think he'll get a job offer worth leaving for this year?

I'd think they'd want to see him do it with another QB first.

He had one year with TVD and that year was a bust. Then one year with a Heisman contender and top 10 draft pick at QB.

I think a good program with a HC job available would want to see him develop and execute with his own guy first (like Emory) or at least repeat it with another QB transfer.

I'm glad you didn't. I needed something else to b!tcth about this morning.

The only thing more impressive than that stat is our ability to consistently convert 3rd and long situations.

In some ways, it actually worries me because it feels like Cam drifts too far on some early downs. Perhaps with the idea that, no matter what, they have a good shot at conversion on 3rd and long. And, sure enough, it’s worked out a lot. FSU did have some athletes that made his scramble game less effective.

When teams play us the way FSU did, I’d love see Cam occasionally hit that back foot and climb forward to get 6-8 yards himself.

He’s extremely slick and savvy in the open field.
Honestly if I was an opposing coach I would try to play us like FSU did. We have a good run blocking OL and you cant let us run over you so stacking the box and trying to force Cam to make undisciplined plays like he has basically his entire career up until Miami (fumbles, crazy INTs, big sacks) seemed like a reasonable GP to win.

BUT now it seems like Cam was only that undisciplined because he had to carry his team, had an awful OL and zero running game. Against FSU he took a few sacks and threw away the ball way more than if he was still in Wash.

So playing to stop the run isnt working, instead play the pass. I saw a few times Cam yelling at their safeties to "come here" he wanted them to move up so he could throw but with the looks they were giving runs were the go-to call.

Now yes we did rush for 250. We have a few big carries but our running game lacks creativity. Running to the interior is all we basically do and if you can stop us with a few guys in the box you see what happened on Saturday, instead of TD we get FG, then our Defense is so poor a team could hang with us while shortening the game and limiting possession.

While the running game from an overall or stat standpoint is good trust what your eyes show. Yes we can pop a decent size one here and there but we seem to content to try for 4 yard gains running into the interior. Id love to see a lil more creativity in the run game and also not crazy about the splits thus far. Unsure why Lyle is having diminished snaps after playing the most of the backups in week 1 and when Allen got in he ran hard and seemed to be a play or two from housing a big one.

This is an insane statistic. You add this to our over 60% 3rd and 4th down offense and this is why we win. It’s also demoralizing AF
This = W’s, especially. No team is easier to beat than one that quits. We had FSU players trying to go from Communications Majors to STEM pathways by the mid-3rd quarter; spring enrollment just opened too. Show them football isn’t for everyone

Curious how many penalties we have on our first three plays of any drive. Assume its quite low and likely leads the nation.

Not getting behind schedule early in a drive is one of the hallmarks of success. On defense, not getting penalized to extend your opponents drive is also a good standard of success.

I made a post earlier in the season about the lack of three and outs. That stat is sick.

I’d love to see a stat on how many TDs we’ve scored on the first drive of the game. I think we’ve done it almost every game.

Certed MOPE chcking in as requested.

Will oblige along with the rest of the CFB world to wit: "Cam is a 1 year REtNal" - just for posterity.

@Cookie917 has the real take though.

My 2 decades of pain wants to subside. stetching helps. This is a great year and so very satisfying thus far.

Offers will be there but he should wait for the right job.

Houston.

He knows the program, Texas high school talent, and the program is investing to build. Joined the Big 12. Had past success.

Programs like East Carolina and Southern Miss are dead-end HC jobs.
