Impact of sanctions

Agree. We're already serving sanctions because the sanctions haven't been served. And the last word I heard was Herbstreit telling Rose that he thought it would be at least another 6 monts before we heard anything. Total BS.

In our current state, this long wait is actually worse than a bowl ban imo.

From the recruits I talk to, they are more concerned about bowl bans, not necessarily the scholarship reductions. The reductions could help in some cases for the playing time pitch, but most are worried about the possibility of not being able to play in a bowl.

Somebody that I've heard is very worried about this is Sony. The good news with his situation is I highly doubt the NCAA takes more than 2 bowls away, so he shouldn't have to miss any bowls.

As far as what other schools are saying, they are negative recruiting, which shouldn't be a surprise to anybody. I'm sure this staff has negative recruited at some point as well. It is just part of recruiting.

Assuming we get to 6 and are eligible to self-impose or be hit anyways, we would have to get FOUR bowl bans to have any effect on Sony. PSU got 4 and we wont come near.

I think the scholly loss isnt a big deal to these guys because they are the big fish and they wouldnt have been cut anyways. Its the Gray Crow and Jake O'Donnell, and Jeremy Kerr's of recruiting that would miss out.

Well they should care about scholly losses cause that will likely mean that the team isn't gonna be as good as other teams who have no scholly penalties.

So worst case we get 4 bowl bans (that would put us on par with Penn St penalties), which would affect Sony going to a bowl game his freshman year. He's not gonna come here because he won't be participating in a bowl game his freshman year of college? Sounds a bit ridiculous to me. If that's the case, he's simply looking for an excuse not to come here and deep down wants to play elsewhere.

Kids are usually very short sighted, I definitely was at that age, and all they see is that USC hasnt really been affected by the scholly reduction. Now we all know that SC's real troubles are still a couple years away, but a lot of these kids dont know that.

Who cares about bowl bans in college football. It's not like it really means anything(outside of money for the conference). It only sucks if it takes us out of a title game which a lot of the time is rigged anyway (FSU in 2000 and SEC nowadays). JMHO

If I was a recruit and this was NCAA basketball and a major university team that I was interested in got a NCAA tournament ban for a few years, that could be a deal breaker for me.

USC was also hit with a 2 year bowl ban, which if that is the case with us, we'd serve by the end of this season.

I wish they were just deliver the punishment, so we can move on. The fact that they punished PSU so quickly is utter BS.

I've tried to fathom this and just can't...Seems like the degree of illegal activity at PSU over such a long period of time would have warranted a much longer process than the one we find ourselves in...but there is too much common sense associated with that train of thought.
