Who's the poster that claims to know Lucas? MiamiChris or something like that. According to him, Lucas is leaning heavily to the Noles
After showing up and looking as physically imposing as a lineman can look, then matching that with his dominating play, there was no doubt: 2019 IMG Academy OL Dontae Lucas was the clear OL MVP of the Rivals 3 Stripe Miami Camp after working at guard most of the day.
“It felt great,” Lucas said on winning OL MVP and earning a coveted invite to the Rivals 5-Star Challenge. “I went against some pretty good guys, Elijah (Roberts), (Khris) Bogle.”
As can be common in lineman 1-on-1’s, Lucas and Bogle actually got into a bit of a scuffle on one rep mid-way through camp. Coaches and players quickly broke it up and Lucas was laughing it off seconds later.
“Yeah I always get into it with Bogle,” Lucas said on the Cardinal Gibbons DE. “He’s a little too energetic sometimes, always yapping.”
With the 2018 class locked up and signed, recruiting for the rising senior class of 2019 has slowly begun to pick up. When asked about schools he’s hearing from, Lucas mentioned Miami first and said they’d be in it until the end, but stopped short of naming any leaders or top groups. Besides the Canes, he says FSU, South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, and Alabama are recruiting him the hardest.
“I have no top schools at this point, but you know Miami will always be considered, they’re the hometown team,” Lucas said. “I’m hearing from Telly Lockette at FSU a lot, South Carolina and (Will) Muschamp, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama… it feels like everybody at this point.”
Canes DB coach Ephraim Banda has taken the lead in recruiting Lucas to Miami and the IMG lineman is looking for a program where he feels comfortable with the staff, players, and overall environment. In the end, the school that will win the 6’4” 330 pound lineman over will have made him feel most at home.
“I want to go to a place where I can feel like I’m at home. Just a place where I can get a good degree.”

Solid first interview. But don't be fooled, Lucas is going to go wherever the bags are heaviest.
He's transfered schools a few times. What's with the negativity here? You guys know something I don't? That interview sounded like we have a really good shot.
Anyone not committed before the end of summer is suspect. Word will get out on how much the waiting till signing day bonuses were. It’s been said by others and I’ll say it again. Elite trench recruiting requires everlast boxing heavy bags. Don’t care who your skill position players are. Our secondary despite improving in depth will suffer this year if our line is weaker than last year. If our record doesn’t improve or if we loose to fspoo our recruiting will take a step back and we will continue to lose elite talent from sofla.
Coaches have geographic areas to recruit. It's not entirely based on position.Anybody else find it strange that our db coach is leading his recruitment here?
Call me skeptical but this seems like a bag style recruitment. Encouraging he says Miami will be in it until the end but wonder if that's more of a courtesy than a reality. Rollercoaster may be an understatement.
Him going to IMG as opposed to playing his SR year in Miami doesn’t help, but Pete has been calling this kid a lock for years
I think after a few visits on campus, Miami will lock him up!! Paradise Camp is when I think Lucas along with others will make it official, BUT of course the staff will have its hands full through out because this kid will be hot on everybody's wish list and they will come for him all the way til the end!!
