than you thought the season would be? To date we have not looked good on D and been hot cold on offense. Wieclaw is a head case now. That is a surprise. I suppose i am surprised thay we have beaten every team weve played that we should have beaten. Overall to date these Canes are exacrly who we thought they were. Im waiting for us to revert back to a team that beats average teams and loses to inferior teams. Im hoping it doesnt happen and wr get to 8 wins this year.

Agree. We are definitely ahead of pace in regards to wins at this point. Going into the season we were a sub-500 team.

Now we have won 3 close games that we could have lost and now have a fair chance to be a .500 team.

Problem for most is that after each of our lucky wins, expectations became unjustifiably too lofty. Then when a top team, like KSU or ND, came out and put a beating on us as they should, these same people are angered to the point they can't see the reality of the situation.

We could still win our weak division, or we could lose every remaining game on our schedule. Neither would be overly surprising. Hopefully we will be able to see some type of progress that will give hope to the future (and obviously unrealistic expectations to many).

It's been different so far than I thought the season would be.

More wins than I imagined we'd have at this point.

Morris has been far better than I expected. I had a pretty low bar set for him though.

Defense is far worse than expected. I didn't think it would be good, but I also didn't think it would be totally incapable of stopping every **** offense it faces either.

Davon Johnson has made a few plays and Allen Hurns really hasn't.

Wieclaw was about the last player I expected to struggle.

The season is better than most rational fans thought. I had us winning 5-6 games total, we have 4 now, 3 in the ACC. People love to complain. It's one thing to point out faults and talk about them, it's another to post "Corch D suckie suckie" over and over and over again.

Yeah it is different. I totally expected us to be a bad team. I never expected, nor ever will expect that we have the THIRD WORST DEFENSE in college football. Considering that didn't even happen when we were on probation, I don't think my disgust is unwarranted. The Canes are NOT who we thought they were OP, unless you thought the defense would be as bad as 118/120. If that's so, then you are a prophet. I don't believe that's the case though.

These boards are becoming an exercise in futility. You can't really expect any rational thinking. I run into Miami fans all the time and none of them are as unrealistic as the one's on these forums.
The team is in line to win 8 games and could pull of 9 with some luck. That would be far and above my expectations. While the losses has stun,g the wins have been pretty **** fun!
I'll be there Saturday expecting another one too!

I would have guessed 3-3 at this point. Did not expect the defense to be quite this bad, or for us to lose so devastatingly at KSU/ND, but did not expect us to consistently win the close ones, either.

Anyway, UNC/VT are our season now. That's it.

Wouldn't be this bad if it wasn't in front of a national audience. I agree with all the posts here its bad we never thought it to be embarrasing bad.plus i think this is where we have been tanking the last couple of seasons and dropping 3 or so in a row.

Perhaps you should look up the definition of "rational."

I can handle the 4-2 record, but the defense is abysmal and I can not listen to the excuses anymore. Freshman and sophmores can attack the LOS, they can play tight coverage. Our scheme is a bigger problem than the youth IMO.

So what part of this definition describes the posters on this forum:

I would say Canesfan1899 is reasonable and exercising reason, sound judgment, or good sense.

If you were truly rational, you wouldn't ignore how abysmal our defense currently is. Pumping sunshine in light of such a situation is being completely irrational. Saying we are going to win 8 or 9 games with a 118/120 ranked defense is irrational. Tell me what exactly you base such a statement on? The ACC powerhouses (especially compared to the ones we will face soon) that we barely beat? Keep being rational man. You are awesome at it.

I didnt think of our defense in terms of 118/120 so you may be correct there. But we have 2 kids on defense that could play anywhere in the nation. The secondary is young and talenyed and would be second teammers at best elsewhere. Tjen we have kids that would be role players at most other places, so ueah i expected us to be terrible.

The record is where I thought we would be. I will not be at all surprised if we lose the next 3 and are 4-5. I expected the defense to struggle, but not this much. The biggest surprise to me is that in our 2 losses, we got blown out. Losing is one thing....but the way we lost to K-state and notre **** is tough. Either way I am all in. Will be at the next 4 home games like always, and will be watching recruiting until NSD. Next year big things are expected, by me at least. I thought we would go 6-6 this year.

I dunno.

We're 4-2 and have a chance to go to the ACCCG in a year where it would have seemed highly unlikely.

I'm not going to sit here and **** in my own Wheaties over that scenario. Just taking it one week at a time right now.

I am pleased that we're 4-2. If you asked me before the season I'd take 4-2 in a heartbeat. What I am dissapointed in is just how putrid our defense is. The most important thing I wanted out of this season is HOPE. I wanted hope going forward into next year. I have hope for our offense. I'm skeptical about our defense.

I agree with everyone being disappointed with our defense of course, but I should say I am very surprised at our offense. Unproven QB, really not much top end talent at WR, not a TE in the stratosphere, I didn't think in a million years we would see the consistent big play ability we have seen this year.

I don't think anyone expected the defense to be this bad, but you'd think we were 0-6 based on some threads and posts.

I'm not ignoring anything, but at the end of the day it's a bunch of kids playing football, better than most of us thought this year as well.
I'm not basing the entire season on two blow-outs to top 10 teams. IMO there are no guaranteed losses on the schedule at this point and I sure as **** didn't feel that way in late August.
