I'm actually concerned about this game

Although we beat Va Tech, we are still a team that can win or lose any game we play. Its who we are right now. And as we all know, we have lost these types of games consistently for the last 8 years or so. Anytime we need that big win, it seems we fail.

I honestly feel that this team is close to turning the corner but we haven't reached that point yet. My biggest concern is Stephen Morris...kid could come out and sling it for 400 yards or could come out and well, you know.

A lot riding on this game and I'll be crushed if we lose.

I agree, I will be furious if we lose.

I think a big thing with Morris is he keeps looking for the home run. As Golden said he has got to just take what the D give him. That NC St. game got his head too big.

He certainly has a tendency to swing away, but with all the short passes into the dirt - why not? It's not like he can toss it ten yards in front of him.

My only concern too is Morris. He is the key to this offense, he makes the right throw and complete the deep passes the run will open up and Duke and James can do their thing

Every game we have won included several breaks, turnovers, or special teams, bombs, etc..., so we should be concerned. You can't always count on those breaks.

I don't see how anyone could not be concerned. They've beaten us twice in a row and generally speaking have owned us since we joined the conference. I'm not even going to bring up The Game That Never Happened. They are always smart and well coached and execute the little things that absolutely kill us like hitting the wide open tight ends in the flat.

I can absolutely see us losing this game. It should not be taken lightly.

If we run the ball effectively we will win. That takes pressure off Morris, opens things up for the receivers, and keeps the D fresh.

Run EFFECTIVELY....

Running the ball shouldn't be a problem, they have the worst run defense in America. There should be a lot of open receivers when we throw if we run it well and consistently, which we should be able to do.

We currently rank 119 out of 120 against the run. Are you saying they are #120?

Lots of reasons to be worried:

- They've had a real crappy year but just demolished NC St. That could mean they've turned things around
- They have nothing to play for (nothing to lose) and we do (everything to lose). Pressure squarely on us.
- Our 2 best defensive players (Bush and DP) look to be out
- They are a team that has really exploited our weaknesses on defense effectively

Reasons to be hopeful:

- We're coming off a bye and a huge win. Big momentum.
- Duke is back healthy
- Porter back in the fold and guys are getting healthy (Bush and DP notwithstanding)
- Defense starting to play well

Gonna be a close one, fellas.

I never thought I would be more confident in the defense than I am the offense, but I am.
Morris needs to come out on target, if Miami starts hot I actually think they could run away with it. I think this is finally the game where James and Duke take control.

Have we run the ball effectively in any game this year?

I'm concerned about every game, but I'm hoping UVA beating NC State was them getting a good game out of their system and now going back to being garbage.

If Morris would only stop staring down receivers life would be so much better for him. The more the passing game stifles the more he does that, and vice versa.

This, truth be told, we should be concerned about each and every game, this team is a far cry away from being dominant or similar to the early 2000 teams

Color me concerned. They are very patient on offense. They will exploit our LBs in coverage by using their TEs and backs. I see a UNC type game. We need Morris to play much better than he did against F$U, UNC and VT.
