I'll say this about Thursday and this team

I don't get the concern with Miami's performance in Thursday night games. We're 11-1 all time. Pretty good history if you ask me.

Miami is 15-3 all-time in ESPN Thursday Night games. Thursday will be Miami’s 75th appearance on ESPN – tied for the most of any college football program

Don't get me wrong....we may very well lose a game or two this year.

But not THIS game. We lose to FSU on the road...I can understand. We lose a close hard fought game to V Tech...I can somewhat live with it. We lose to Clemson in the ACCCG...I can accept it.

But this is not the Gio Bernard Tar Heels. That ain't Marvin Austin and Quintin Coples lining up on the edge coming after Morris. It would be absolutely unacceptable in my eyes if we lost this game. We're Miami...there's simply never an excuse for losing to the Virginia's, North Carolina's, and Georgia Tech's of the world.

I would like to think we're past those dark times already. Losing this game would raise huge question marks in my mind with this being year 3-4 of the Golden regime.

But again...I fully expect us to win this game by 2 scores.

People who follow college football know the names of Duke Johnson and Stephen Morris, but most fans of teams outside the ACC don't know much about them.
I was in San Diego 3 weeks ago at restaurant in Point Loma and struck up a conversation with an older guy wearing a Sooner hat. He saw my Canes Shirt and almost started crying. I told him thanks for the National Championships.
He didn't know anything about us.
I told him about Morris' arm and how I see Duke as Ladanian II, and he was slightly skeptical until we texted during the GT game, that he was now a Miami fan.

My point is that I think this national game is going to let a ton of people see how good our team is.
This is going to be a coming out party in front of the whole college football world, particularly AP voters and coaches.

I expect a lot of, "god ****! What a throw!" And "that Duke Johnson is incredible."

Morris throwing 50 yard lasers and Duke over 200 yards rushing.

Really a conspiracy by all parties involved to ruin Miami?

Can't make this stuff up.

It usually comes down to who controls the LOS. UNC is ranked 84th in sacks, 86th in sacks allowed, 93rd in tackles for loss, 90th in tackles for loss allowed. 114th in rushing offense, 101st in rushing defense. Seems like they have some serious trouble where it counts the most. This should be a business trip, as long as their focused like they have been all year.

This game will be a great indicator of the staff's ability to get the team ready, not too jacked up, yet taking UNC seriously no matter what has been said about them being a lesser team since Butch left.

I am hoping and expecting to see us go in like a level headed buzz saw team and do business, leave exalted but act like its SOP. We do that - we're mature enough to know that we are good, then we are on our way back.

If our team goes into the game with the same attitude as most of the posts, we not only lose, we get blown out.

We are not that good, YET. We have beaten FAU, Savannah State, GT, USF, all of which suck, and finally Florida. UNC is better than their record, and this is their season. Be happy with a win, even by one point.

Very true. We have yet to face a real challenge. I have no clue how good we are and believe we can lose to anyone at anytime. THis team is beginning to pass the eye test, but I remain cautious about knowing where we truly are.

LULZ at the profound level of retardation in alleged UM fans. Now, uf.ag is not "a real challenge".

Did you have to call him or just nudge him the next morning?

Miami has to jump on top early and break UNC's moral. A 1-4 team down at the half by 2-3 td's will fold like a cheap suit!

So, if Miami scores early, the Tarheels will start performing lewd acts and committing crimes and misdemeanors?

I would take everything you wrote above and repost it before the last game at Pitt.

I do agree that his post would be better served for that game.. However, what he said has more merit than most on this board are giving credit. They have a top QB in the ACC (& a very good dual threat back up), athletes at the skill positions, the best TE in the nation & their best running back coming back off injury.. Make no mistake, Thursday night is their season/bowl game. We better be ready... Even mediocre UNC teams are dangerous at home in that environment. (Thursday night/black out)

I can see us digging ourselves an early hole and being faced with some real adversity.

Fwiw I think we win by double digits.. I expect our veteran offense to dominate TOP (for once) & eventually a few mistakes by UNC will lead to us putting the game out of reach. 34-17'ish. Hard fought.. Utough shows up big again.

probably just left a pen, paper, and cab fare on the nightstand.

Miami will continue to average 40+ points per game.

We will score 40+ on all remaining teams on the schedule. (Hopefully)

What evidence is there to suggest that Thursday night games are "brutal" to road favorites?

Tons. I think the winning percentage against the spread for the home team playing on Thursday night on ESPN is something like .62 (which is insane) and that percentage jumps to something like .65 if the road team is favored. I believe the percentage is closer to .70 if the road team is favored and the teams are in the same division.

If you dont think Miami is going to cover this easy spread against UNC, then you just havent been paying attention.
