I'll stop being a fan if we self-impose after we beat UVA.

BYE!!!!
Could care less what it would mean to the rest of a season where we've already lost 4 games and would have to play FSU again in the ACCCG...where a loss would send us to a substandard, meaningless bowl game.
Only the administration knows exactly how much the NCAA has on us...if there is even a greater than 10% chance that we get another bowl ban they must self impose. The freshman and sophomores might not like missing a bowl game this year but those same underclassmen might transfer if the NCAA hits us with another bowl ban or 2 and we DON'T self impose this year.
Get the cloud out from over us as soon as possible. If you tell me we'd have a chance for something greater than POSSIBLY winning of of the WORST conferences in America...then I'd listen. Reality however is that the possible reward isn't worth the possible risk. Opportunity cost.

The cloud ain't leaving because we self imposed a second ban, something no team has done EVER. The cloud ain't leaving because we haven't been served with a NOA yet. The cloud isn't leaving till sanctions come and penalties start. Self imposing doesn't remove the cloud, it only is a sign of good faith.
While I agree the administration knows more, where do you come up with 10%? Where you come up with the reward isn't worth the risk.
Newsflash: Miami hasn't done jack **** since 2003. We have been a team unable to win the Coastal. We are a team that hasn't sniffed a BCS game in a long time. Now we can, now we have the OPPORTUNITY to do so in year 2 of Golden. Too me that outweighs any cost in not taking a second self imposed ban. In addition, the NCAA only considers self imposed sanctions as a sign of good faith, nothing is definitive. They can still hit us with whatever they want.
Let me repeat there is no NOA yet, there is no information out there that is deemed credible on the investigation. No team has ever self imposed a second band. We haven't won the ACC ever, we haven't won the coastal either.
We have 3 games left this year and 2 in the ACC. If we qualify for the ACCCG then I am going based on the little information out there. If we don't make the ACCCG then self impose another ban if that is what Mike Glazier and the administration thinks is best.
We all know we have 4 losses, we also realize we can do something we have never done. Bring on FSU, if we get the opportunity to play them again, let's dance.

Risk/reward is this. We could not self impose. Roll into the ACC title game, beat FSU, and go to BCS game. The NCAA could then come out give us sanctions and time served for the bowl game missed last year.
We could also go to the ACC title game and get drilled by FSU and then head to some ****ty bowl. The NCAA then comes out and hits us with a 2 year bowl ban instead of one and we are sitting here ****ed for 2013.
Of those two scenarios the 2nd one is the most likely. If we could win out from here. Self impose and to me its an easy sell to players, fans, and recruits that we are a very much improving 8-4 football team that doesn't have to worry about any more threats of post season bans.

I think we just say **** it and play the acccg and the bowl game. We keep self imposong which they say helps and i believe the.ncaa.will just see that as we are admitting guilt. Play the game like last years ban was.more than enough and.just win. **** Shapiro, **** KW, and **** the NCAA.
Miami knows they are going to get a 2 year bowl ban.
Hypothetical question: Miami wins the coastal, Miami knows they are going to get a 2 year bowl ban. Everyone would want to self impose this year and start fresh for 2013, correct?
Fwiw, I think the administration is going to get every possible bit of info from the NCAA that they can and think they will make a good informed decision that is the best for the program in the future.
Miami knows they are going to get a 2 year bowl ban.
i don't think anyone knows that right now. not even the NCAA.
