If we self impose after a UVA win...

Will Golden lose the team?

Will they tank last 2 games?

This is why i think theres no way we self impose

If we roll UVA (its possible) no way they stop the momentum

Golden won't lose the team, but it will certainly be a kick to the balls to a team that is working their *** off...could definitely see them losing games.

And god, the media. They would just use it as further reason to kick us in the balls. The thing is, they'd take the negative side: aka, worse penalties are coming, rather than any bright side.

smh...the media would really be on us like flies on ****. They would try to further bury they program...and let's not talk about recruiting
 
Probably lose the team, we all saw what happened after we announced it last year.

It would be devastating. Coach Golden has preached all year to focus on winning the Coastal so the program can reach the ACC Title game, which it has never done. If the Shalala snatches that from him and the players, it will have a damaging effect...

If they self-impose again, I think it should be right after the Duke game. I don't want to see the team play a game after learning of the ban.

I think last year's timing was a mistake.
 
Moot point, not gonna happen.
I beginning to believe that we are gonna get hammered by the NCAA and Miami knows it, my guess is they take whatever opportunities they have this year.
Now that it appears Kyle Wright snitched as well…doesn't look good.

I'm leaning towards playing in the ACC championship game if we have the opportunity. If the NCAA really wants to hammer us they're going to do it anyway.

Since I don't think we know how to lessen the blow, we should let the kids play hard and reward their efforts. I would rather deal with NCAA when we know the punishment than penalize this year's team. Golden et al are building a foundation that can survive whatever they plan to dole out.
 
Truthfully... I think Golden has a plan for either scenario that plays out. He'll be prepared.

Which is why i'm leading towards playing in the ACCCG.. at the moment

This. And, if they're not, why give us a penalty that we may not have otherwise received. It's not being proactive, it's being unnecessarily damaging.

the earliest we can clinch is the 17th i think if we beat uva and duke loses another ACC game against GT. based on what the ACC has said, it has to be sooner than later. cant tell them that late in the year especially if we have it clinched by the 17th.
 
I am pretty sure you can self impose at anytime up until your mathematically eliminated from a bowl game. After your mathematically eliminated, the NCAA would take it as a joke that you self imposed a ban.

We could do it now if wanted too, we don't have to wait for a 6th win.

ACC is irrelevant. NCAA is what matters.

We didn't accept anything yet, we haven't clinched anything yet. We can wait, we haven't been served with a NOA so it would be stupid to do anything without more information. Sorry ACC, you will need to wait. The ACC will give us time, they want us in the game anyway.

The NCAA and ACC do not want us to self impose if we make the title game. It makes the conference look bad.
 
Someone posted a great analogy in another thread, "it's like sending yourself to prison for two years when you many have only gotten probation", at this point I say let it play out. Agree with JJ's Hair, if the NCAA wants to hammer us they're gonna hammer us.
