If Miami can get back to running this defense

I was talking to a friend who is more familiar with Guidry from Western Kentucky and Marshall. Knows people that worked on both staffs. He made the point that at Western Kentucky he had a starting DB who was almost completely deaf or mute. At Marshall he had the kid we tried to get to come here after he followed Guidry to Tulane and then went to LSU. He had a bad stutter and couldn't even communicate verbally on the field. Neither of those teams had any communication issues. It can't be that hard. Brain dead players is the most likely problem and that's just not going to be fixed.

Have been praying every night by my bedside that Guidry used these 2 weeks to install the same 3-3-5 stack alignment used late last season.
And what is that going to do? You do know its still going to be the exact same players we are using now. That change up last year was only because injuries. Once teams got film on that they were exposed. You forgot the Louisville game and Rutgers running all over them?

It makes me wonder if good to elite coordinators even wanna coach for Mario, which leads to the reason why it takes him so long to hire OCs

In it's current form (4-2-5) Miami's defense lacks the talent, speed and athleticism we're accustomed to seeing. While that can't be fixed right now, replacing an underperforming DL with a more athletic LB increases our speed quotient, and allows for some coverages/blitzes for which Wake has not prepared. Or we can rinse/repeat and stunt 4 slow DL into each other every play since that continues to work so well.

What’s worrisome is how every kind of offense has been clapping cheeks on our D [gigantic pause]. Whether a passing or running offense we can’t stopped anything.

That and before you even get the offer your assistants are already hired for you.
This is pretty normal at successful programs where assistants don’t leave as much because they wait for promos plus value stability and OCs/DCs move on to other jobs.

Some of yall must be dyslexic and think we are 1-9.

Played a ton of 4-3 vs gt. 3-3-5 isn’t solving any of those issues As seen last year. It’s literally the same personnel in the 3-3-5 and 4-2-5. The jack role is to be a de/olb hybrid so he would just stand up

Sounds about right, best offense in country tied to defense unworthy of any top 25 team, we play cupcake defense. Embarrassing bordering on sabotage.

finally the numbers matched what our eyes see every week. a terrible defense. the only reason we arent blowing teams out by 30-40 a week honestly.

Would’ve been tough to beat GT by 40 since we scored 23 points. Maybe it’s not too much to ask Guidry to hold them to -17 tho idk.

you cant be this dense right?

maybe guidry shouldnt allow a 10 min TOp differential which limited our possessions along with allowing over 270 yards on the ground while GT was telegraphing their entire offense.

The defense that Miami ran against Florida will be enough for this team to make a deep run in the playoffs. Luckily Alston and Brown return just in time to make a run. Looking at how different the defense played against Florida vs the defense thats been on the field the last few weeks, it really makes you wonder just how significant of a loss Alston was.

The difference is we have now been exposed... We simply don't have the speed or the instincts to stop the outside runs. That puts us in a mode where we have to react before we read. Constantly playing catch-up.

I cant tell you how many times I would watch games and hear the announcers say you simply can't get outside on a Miami defense. Their team speed is just better than yours. They will stretch you out and force you out of bounds before you can even get to the edge. That is just not the case anymore.

GT tried to do this against NC state last night and they blew that **** up almost every time. Our LBS are slow our CBs cant get off simple blocks and our Safeties have horrible instincts and miss tackles. Our DEs are nonexistent in these types of runs because they are stunting and overly focussed on the QB.

If I was playing Miami I would hit the edges with running plays over and over again.

ALOT of people seem to overlook this part when blaming the offense, the defense was soooo bad getting dog walked up and down the field by getting nickle and dimed that they couldnt get in rhythm. Our defense let ******* jet sweep work every time, we couldnt even line up correctly how bad our defense is.

There is a reason all cristobal has said is alignment assignment. Our guys are soo confused they dont even know how to line up. The level of incompetence is utterly disgusting. I cant state how bad it was.

NCST blew up that high school offense that GT just left the Haynes King on sideline most 4th qtr.
