If golden wins 10 games this yr.

Is that not good enough for a third yr?
Maybe I should clarify. In his third yr he wins 10 games. After what he took over. That is not bad right?

It is a HUGELY successful year. No matter how you want to hate/digest/dissect it, 10 wins is a huge improvement with a top 5 recruiting class coming in. I'm buying stock that the Canes are slowly climbing up the progression ladder. There's just been too much bad recently for Canes fans to feel confident in the season right now.

Okay and we should be happy with the D which is a dumpster fire?? We aren't even guaranteed to win these next 3 games so let's not pencil them in yet cause watching Doritos D gives me no confidence

Of course 10 wins is a successful season, anyone saying otherwise is clueless. We haven't won 10 games since 2003, 10 ******* years.

Even if we do get to 10 there are still a lot of red flags, namely the defensive scheme.

I predicted 10 wins and at least 9 as worst case. Hoping for 10 and a new D cord.......I would call that a successful season!!

The whole 10 win thing is a ruse. 10 wins against **** while completely falling apart against VT and losing the Coastal is not a success. You need to win the money games like last night in order to be considered a success. That abortion last night sullies the whole season.

10 wins is a good season period. Doing it with your starting QB hurt all year and under performing, your best WR out halfway through season, Duke out the last five games and a roster with razor thin depth and a severe lack of top notch talent is exceptional.

For a team that hasn't won double digit games in nearly a decade, 10 wins is a success. I don't give a **** how you slice it.

it's not even that. not all 10-2 seasons are created equal. if we comfortably won 10 games, and then lost legitimate games to FSU and VT, and we looked like we knew what the **** we were doing, thats progress. but squeaking by all conference games, getting raped by FSU, and then chopping off our own leg and shoving it up our *** against VT is bull****.

the record isnt everything, not unless you win it all. if you have 2 losses and win a MNC, celebrate all you want. but other than that scenario, your record is only useful insofar as it helps you predict future performance. and on-field performance is a way better predictor. and our season so far predicts the D is going to keep sodomizing itself with its own leg.

i'll take 10 wins in a heartbeat. we'll lose some meh seniors and start with a fresh QB. My worry is we won't be much better at QB. Do we see Olsen as an RS Frosh Heisman type like **** or Manziel? If Williams was the goods there were plenty of times we could have put him in this season. I understand Al and co. are ride or die w/ Morris, but if Ryan really showed the staff something he'd play some especially w/ a 2 game slide. No talk of that...

If you say so. I ain't hearing anything about "success" after last night. 10 wins would be considered mitigation of damage, but not "success".

P.S. 10 wins is almost a pipe dream at this point anyway with the way we're playing. Pitt looked pretty good last night and seems to get better as the season progresses under Cryst. Novel concept.

Zero argument from me regarding your last paragraph.

If we some how win 10 games, get help and make it to the ACCCG game. We get rolled by FSU again. We end up playing an SEC team in the Chick-fl-a Bowl, get rolled by someone like Johnny Manziel and A&M. Or we go to the Russell Athletic and Teddy B goes ham against our soft *** pass defense that gets zero pressure on the QB. Just don't see Coach No D putting up any kind of gameplan to stop any team with a pulse. Just watch us make Duke look like world beaters next week.

Edit, just checked the standings, we need VT to **** the bed in one of their last two of Maryland and UVA. What a failure last night was. Could have all but wrapped up the Coastal and put the finishing touches on it with a win over Duke. Giant ******* egg laid by this staff and players.

Judging by the players reaction, during their 2nd beat down in 2 weeks. This team isn't winning no 10 games.

Guys have done sold stocks in their confidence in Ono for the year. This defense isn't going to playing better all of a sudden. When the 3 teams left on our schedule. Work em over like the last 5 have.

The goal this year was to get to the ACCCG. Anything short of that and its a failure. Especially when you consider we were 7-1 and had it there for the taking. ACCCG or bust. 10 wins is a nice consolation prize, but 10 wins and watching VT in the ACCCG is not satisfactory.

honestly, at this point 10 wins is nice but doesnt really mean jack ****.

it is obvious that the defense is pathetic and we will never win anything with it. time to get a real DC

this. i fear that we are about to witness a major melt down

OK, I am back in control of my emotions. I think that Al is smart and driven to win and will think that we are improved, but we need to do better on D. He will not fire D'O but he will discuss changes in what we are doing. I think that they will realize that they have better DBs than they have ever coached. They will have better LBs and DL next season and so they will be much less cautious. We will press the WRs more and play less soft zone. We will run blitz more and we will try to stop teams instead of trying to prevent big plays.................I honestly feel we are on the way back, and had you told me we would be 10-2 before the season, I would have taken it. The same for 9-3. I predicted 8-4 and would have felt that we were improving.

Falling *** backwards into ten wins would be an accomplishment because of how bad of a team we are. For a team that does nothing well, winning ten games shouldn't be possible. So in that regard I just don't see it happening. We stink.

10 wins aren't created equal? seriously? 10 wins but we aren't happy with the way we lost 2 games, yikes. 10 wins would be HUGE for this program. As many have said we haven't won 10 games in 10 frickin years. We aren't the only team that played a soft schedule and had success. How can we account for USF and UNC being dumpster fires? Those have been bowl eligible teams the last 5 or so years. 10 wins gives Golden the credibility to be even stronger on the recruiting trail. It wasn't that long ago that we mocked FSU for getting 9 and 10 wins but never getting over the hump. While we laughed recruits ate that up. That empowered Jimbo Fisher and gave him credibility to say to a kid like Jamies Winston we can win here.

I know once we got to 7-0 and ranked #6 ppl changed their expectations. But honestly this was never a championship roster. We have equal or less talent that every team we play IN conference. When you don't have a Sr or Jr who can beat out 3 true freshmen for Kick Return duties that means you have no playmakers in your upper class. When you have no playmakers in your upper classmen you don't win ships..period.
