If Clemson beats SMU..

wrong. he gets blamed for hiring giudry. you cant even explain what you mean by "gameday coach"

Gameday coach means all the coaching duties that require actual football coaching. Xs and Os, preparedness, game plan, in game adjustments, play calling and etc. What it does not referee to is the roster building side of things.

what you mean good game day coach? you just saying things to say them?
Our defense was a mess, thats on guidry, Did Mario fumble the ball on the last drive at GT?
Did he blow coverages, commit a personal foul inside the 1 yard line, etc against Cuse?
He allowed us to lose after being up 21-0 on Syracuse..that was poor gameday coaching for sure. He could have stepped and forced the O to slow down to maintain the lead

We know we’re not getting in and if SMU loses a close one, they likely won’t get in, we’re just ****ed that Bama bumped us and potentially SMU and that the ACC hasn’t done **** about it. Like they should absolutely be hammering home that smu should get in regardless. Bama has three losses and just lost to a 6-6 Oklahoma by three touchdowns. They’re destroying college football. It’s essentially the BIG and SEC invitational with a few special guests.

I think the other conferences should tell the NCAA that they can do a SEC vs BIG playoff and the other conferences will do a playoff with the winners of each playoff meeting for a final game or we can just have split champions. But this is absolutely destroying competition in an unfair monopolistic way
This is what I’ve been thinking.. let the B10 & SEC do their own thing. What’s the point in playing games when they don’t matter. ****, sec/b10 can have the ncaa.

Previously, I was under the assumption Clemson needed to lose this weekend wouid be better for us …(I know we blew it,)

But, If Clemson beats SMU … and let’s say they beat them by 21+ … how far would SMU drop ?

Couid it be possible they drop below us ? 11-2 vs 10-2… we have the stronger Strength of Schedule .. we beat all of the common opponents they’ve had .. our 2 losses .. they didn’t have to play those teams ..

Their loss out of conference loss to BYU … our Out of Conference win vs UF ..

They’re number 8.. couid they drop 5 spots in a blow out loss?

Kind of why bama is over us .. if the committee applied that “brand” advantage to us over SMU ?

In this case both Bama and Miami makes it in . SMU out

We are 1st team out ..

Clemson losing wouldn’t change anything .. but SMU losing could …
Thoughts ?
How does this cause Miami to jump bama?

I wouldn't be all that surprised in SMU falls below us in the rankings if Clemson continues to dominate them. The problem is it means we'd both be out and Bama would be in.

If GT had beaten UGA, wouldn’t be surprised if the playoff committee said they deserve to get in over the ACC champs as any team that beats the sec champ is clearly the best team in the conference.

Just wait until they forget about their "idle teams won't move" plan and Ole Miss jumps us in they rankings because they did beat the SEC champ

.. it doesn’t .. I was throwing out a theory on the basis of hope/ and being fair to conferences..

Squid Bum essentially put it in simpler terms
“It would be kinda funny if Clemson blows out SMU and the playoff committee says it was so lopsided that it has to consider UM the second best team in the ACC, and lets us in over SMU just to deflect criticism of leaving UM out last week”

This type of scenario .. and If negative criticism of SEC bias makes them put in another ACC team

Thing is in my opinion.. they’ll get more heat for Bama over SMU rather than UM over SMU .. but the UGA W, hurts case.

It’s the only way I see any possible chance of getting in.. the notion that the ACC shouldn’t be a 1 bid league .

The GOR was shortsighted and dumb, and possibly the worst contract in the history of sports (leading the death of a major conference) but it at least the motivation was understandable. But ACC completely rolling over and doing nothing to push back on getting screwed is the biggest indictment and should be the last straw to trigger dissolution.

My. Biggest question with SMU is how many of our castoffs will be playing for them next year…

Well, the way I would think it helps is could you justify making the ACC of one bid league with the Champion being a 9 win team?
There isn’t a minimum number of ACC teams that has to make it though. Clemson slides into the SMU spot and we are still first out. Unless this outcome makes us look better to the committee when we are both inactive somehow?

You’re right but I find a better at large argument that way
