I will never understand the South Florida kids

If your kid was a talented engineer, you would encourage him to go to MIT.

How is this different? These are future pros.

U might encourage (ie: bags) but these 18 yr old young adults have a brain too and they can make decisions on their own. Act like playing for Mark Richt won’t get u to the nfl or something. He’s a proven leader, it’s up to the kid to work hard enough to make it.
They have a brain, but it’s not fully matured, and they have almost zero life experience. That leads to poorly informed decisions. Fact.

We need to hire a real DB coach. Not some high school loser.

We coulda easily lost 5 or 6 games this year. That's a LONG way from competing for a NC.

Its different because if my kid stays home i can see him become a pro down the street representing his hometown not putting on for a racist podunk sec town

Apple's and oranges

Mit analogy is a bad one.

Mit is world renown

In terms of getting into the NFL no scouts give **** what school you're at all they care about is football iq measurables etc.

Uh no. MIT is not the only great engineering school. And for kids who want to work in industry right out of school, MIT is not a good choice. I know, I turned that down to go to a school that would get me a job in Refining/Chemical industry. Wake up.

Amen, some folks are clueless.

Maybe if the kid is a 4star or 3star, you are right. But the 5star Bill Gates of the world dropout at Harvard and go start Microsoft.

What is there NOT to understand?

Football is looked at as a BUSINESS down here. There's zero loyalty in South Florida, even down to the optimist level.

When dozens of high school kids transfer to "better programs" every year you guys eat it up.
"The kid wants to win games and play for a better program!"
"The kid wants more exposure and a better shot at a college scholarship."

But then yall actually expect loyalty from these kids when it comes to choosing their college?

A kid **** all over his home school and transfers to STA/AH for his Senior year and it's a wise business decision. It's a better program, right?
But if a kid uses that same logic when choosing a college all-of-sudden it doesn't make sense?

Unless yall actually think Miami is an equal program to Bama or UGA right now. LOL (please)

Yes WE know these kids can become 1st round draft picks if they stay home.
Yes WE know Miami can compete for NC's if they stay home.
But WE'RE FANS.
When you're a 17/18 year old kid and a guy with 6 NC's is sitting in your living room it's a different story. These kids aren't fans of Miami like we are.

We gotta start winning. That's all.
This class was good enough to put us in the right direction.

The idea that "five stars are first rounders wherever they go" is flat wrong.

Here are our five stars over the past decade:

Brandon Harris
Arthur Brown
Marcus Forston
Duke Johnson
Tracy Howard
Chad Thomas

Not a first rounder in the bunch.

Here are Alabama's over the same period:

Julio Jones
Tyler Love
B.J Scott
Trent Richardson
Dre Kirkpatrick

Nico Johnson
DJ Fluker
Dee Milliner

Phillip Sims
Cyrus Koundajio
Ha-Ha Clinton Dix
Trey DePriest
Landon Collins
Eddie Williams
TJ Yeldon
Reuben Foster
Derrick Henry
Jonathan Allen
OJ Howard
Robert Foster
A'Shawn Robinson
Cam Robinson
D'Shawn Hand
Tony Brown
Marlon Humphrey
Rashaan Evans (projected)

That's 12 out of 26 going first round.

These kids are playing the numbers. It's a smart, safe decision. It is silly to blame the kids or accuse them of "mental weakness." The next step for Miami is becoming the smart, safe decision

They'd have to be objective to understand this, and they're not. They're in their fan feelings.

PS2 said it clear as day during his announcement. He is going to Bama to play for the best DB coach in America. And to Win championships. He said Bama is always in it, and he won a Stae title at AH and wants to go to a proven winner where he can win more championships. How do you battle that? Only one way. Win. Not lose to Pitt. Not lose to Clemson. Not lose to Wisconsin. It ain't rocket science.

Lol great post. What a sh*tshow our "insider" went to work with the scum whose influencing our juniors. Should have been a bigger red flag, but we are all too busy with recruiting to think about it.

Another 4 are second rounders for Bama...that would give us 1 to discuss, Brandon Harris, who, otherwise flopped as a professional.

@Coach Macho @Dmoney...I understand what you are saying and I agree with you. 5* kids have been leaving south florida to go to other schools since the days of Marvin Jones and Lamont Green and Courtland Bullard.

What I dont get is why **** on us? Why not just tell the staff you arent interested?? Rumors are now flying around that we were the 3rd option for both PS2 and TC. 3rd option??? Thats insane. I know this is the "adult" thing to do but to string the staff along knowing you had intentions on going elsewhere in your own home town is something I will never respect.

It sucks that so many South Florida kids don't want to stay home, play in front of family and help their hometown school get back. I definitely understood it better (in retrospect, at least) that some of these kids left because we had an incompetent head coach leading our school, but with Richt, it makes less sense. That being said, is it hard to win battles against teams with much more recent success (Georgia) or dominance (Bama)? Sure, of course. Would it be easier to win recruiting battles if we were winning more? Of course. But, that creates a sort of chicken and egg problem - to win big, we need better players, like Campbell, Surtain, Jeudy, Michel, etc., but the only way to convince those guys to stay is to win. I think that this class is clearly a very, very good class that combined with last year's class, should bring us closer to sustained success. To get to that next level, I think we'll need some of those elite guys to stay home, we're probably going to have to find a way to convince them to do so by selling them that they are the difference in us being good and us catching up to Bama.

Serious question. Since we can't get the top kids now, do you think we have a good enough coaching staff overall to get us over the hump thus allowing us to be able to snag the top kids down the line?
