USF coach Willie Taggart on Miami: "I think 'The U' is back. 'The U' is back."

More Taggart on Miami: "They're back ... they're doing the things you have to do to win ballgames."

Your mind games aren't fooling me.

Lol. You think Taggart wants the same fate that Al gave SSU? And he actually LIKES their coaching staff. Imagine what he would do to USF. Willie aint no fool. If they get blown out at home he will be playing for his job the rest of the season.

Taggart is a good coach with an impressive coaching background. Some of you guys are selling USF short. We should win this game by double-digit numbers but we are not going to beat USF by 40+ points. USF's offense isn't very good but the defense is above average. They are losing games due to the offense, not their defense.

Savannah State notwithstanding, I have yet to see any consistency from our passing game or power running game that leads me to believe we will runaway with this game. We are a work-in-progress on offense.

I'm not saying the final score will be close or that we are in for a dogfight. but, it will not be the blow out some of our fans predict.

you obviously have NO CLUE about what you are talking about

That solid defense gave up a 50 spot to McNeese State. If we struggle with this team it says more about us than them.

He can be a good coach all he wants and im glad the brotha got a shot but his a$$ is gonna be out of there quickly if he doesnt tighten things up. No excuses for getting blown out by McNeese State and FAU. You gotta either beat them or be competitive. Neither of those were even competitive games. And hes about to get blown out again. Maybe not by 30+ but we will make our point.

They gave up 53 to McNeese State and 28 to FAU. Haven't watched a second of them nor have any idea if there are some defensive or special teams scores, but giving up 53 and 28 to those teams doesn't lead me to believe that D is "above average."

Gables is right. Their d is fairly stout with a mess on offense. An absolute mess. They have playmakers though just horrid qb play.

It's going to be a blow out. Not an epic beat down like SSU, but we'll win by 24+.

PS. Their defense isn't anywhere near 'above average'.

lol its hilarious how there are people in this thread really praising USF's defense.... GTFOH

"Yeah there defense is good its the offense the problem" lol USF's "defense" gave up 50 points to McNeese, 21 to a garbage Michigan St offense, and 28 to FAU, all in big losses.... i dont want to hear **** about this is going to be a competitive game or not a blow out.

USF is going to be blown out worse then Miami did them last year, remember the score was 40-9. smh some of yall no matter what has to find some way to not be all in on this Cane train. ******ry at its finest.

"uh uh Miami's offense hasnt looked good besides SSU" lol stupid, yeah 2 games at the beginning of the season where the offense wasnt consistent, means that this offense just isnt going to cut it this year. smh pathetic.

They've actually allowed quite a few defensive scores so far:

vs McNeese - 1 pick 6 and a safety . 3 TOs total
@ Michigan St.1 pick 6 and 1 fumble return for TD 2 TOs total
vs FAU - 1 pick 6 and 1 fumble return for TD . 3 TOs total

Not only are they turning it over a lot, they're allowing teams to score off those turnovers.

I expect we'll see our defense score at least once against them.

Their defense played poorly against McNeese but has been fairly stout the last 2 outings, so the scores were somewhat misleading.

No they didn't. See above.

Taggart knows that Jameson Labady and Joey McNeill are coming for him, and there's nothing he can do to stop it.

I think the OP is basing his statement on USF ranking for total defense this season, which is a respectable 23rd in the nation. They are 9th in the nation in passing yards allowed and 68th in rush defense. (http://stats.ncaa.org/rankings?sport_code=MFB&division=11) Whatever their ranking or these statistics say they are a bad football team. As some have indicated, their offense is terrible (119th in the nation). I think we can pitch a shut out if we bring our A game on defense.
