I guess this is how they will add seats.

Apparently, they will make the field lower, providing the slope they need for additional (and closer) sideline seats.

Check this out. Mouse over "football" and proposed "football". Look at the profile at lower left.

Seriously. They said they were gonna make it more "football friendly" once the Marlins left. Get started on that ****.

They, was a different owner.

Let's hope Ross understands how important it is to renovating the stadium. It's severely outdated and already being outbid for future Superbowls. Miami should be a the premier location to host the Superbowl, every four years or so.

This is an easy choice, even for someone like Ross, because to make money you have to spend it. If he wants Super Bowls, do what you have to do, take advantage of the NFL stadium $$ for help, and fix the damned stadium so you really do have a world class place. Otherwise, he might as well build himself a new stadium.

Well, at least there's this...

Sun Life Stadium in Miami is expected to get a new name. The Miami Herald said Sun Life Financial, the parent company behind the naming rights to the stadium, announced it was pulling up stakes in the United States. The Canadian company is retreating from two staples of its U.S. operation and will no longer sell life insurance and variable-rate annuities in the U.S. The company is expected to turn its sights toward Asia. And that means that in three years when the naming rights agreement between the Dolphins and the financial giant expires, the name Sun Life could come off the stadium.

Just an aside. Naming rights have to be one of the least effective ways of spending your marketing budget.

They often actually inspire hatred.

It's been considered a curse to put your name on a stadium. The list of companies that have gone bust or severely impaired is long. Enron, worlcom, citi and the other banks, every airline, pro player, conseco, psi net. Someone did an analysis a few years back and it was laughable.

Ross is a businessman first. I'm sure he understands this.

Naming rights on Joe Robbie Stadium have been a financial drain on all companies involved. Pro Player apparel was out of business before their prepaid naming rights on the stadium expired, and now Sun Life will not be doing business in the US, but still has 3 years left on their contract.

I think it has to be one of the worst decisions for a corporation. You're better off pouring that money into R and D.

This stadium would be awesome if they did that. Its a nice stadium with PARKING!!! Hate where it is but this would make it a FOOTBALL stadium. Remember how close the OB seats were to the sidelines???

Please note that while that will ADD some additional seats that will be close to the field, lowering the field means that EVERY SINGLE EXISTING SEAT IN THE ENTIRE STADIUM will become even FURTHER away from the action than it is now.

They are literally making 80k (or whatever) seats worse in order to add VIP seats close to the field.
