I blame an administration for hiring a coach who has to learn how to be a head coach on his first job in that position. No power 5 school should ever make a hire like that. Miami hiring like a mediocre fcs school is where the real blame is.

Staff got me looking goofy too.

I knew we had weaknesses, but so does every non elite team.

Oline sucks, but look at how much more yards and points we get sticking to shotgun even with the sacks and pressures.

Manny’s lost. The coordinators are lost. We got clueless position coaches. It’s a mess. I always delude myself in the off season that we will get competent, above average coaching. I am always proven wrong.

I hated the Manny hire, then started sipping on the kool aid. Moping doesn’t make losses hurt any less, so I will always be bullish about the team in the offseason until we start actually losing games.

Sad thing is, it didn’t have to be like this.@dsddcane warned us, but I just can’t bring myself to spend the offseason moping with no hope for the season when we have the talent to play solid football and have fun seasons even if beating the elite teams is a long shot.

I dont agree that mario wouldve been a bad hire BECAUSE I know the staff he was gonna surround himself with. We had a group chat going among all of us. That's all I'm gonna say on that. I understand the concerns with Mario's game day coaching much like I understood at the time the criticism butch would get for the same thing. But mario is still young and he is a monster recruiter. Surround him with the right support and hed be unstoppable. MOST coaches are nothing more or less than the staff they surround themselves with. I'm not even gonna say the names that were being tossed around for a.d. a couple of very interesting fairy tales atleast.

Some version of this delusional canard has been said about every coach since coker. All equally insane, mind you. If only Clappy had fired Kehoe earlier, or held onto Soldinger, or clamped down on the country club. If only Alfraud Gluten woulda fired Dorito. If only Randy would have recruited schools other than MNW and BTW. If only Mork pricht woulda whatever.

people need to wrap their heads around the logic concept that identifying and addressing causes of failure doesn’t make success inevitable. All we know about our past staffs was FAILURE. Peel it back, and it may still be failure. Because success is hard, and there is absolutely no reason in the world to think our failed coaches were a hair’s breadth away from success. They were all one foot in the grave, and another foot on a banana peel.

How this isnt obvious, I dunno. This fan base has stockholm syndrome, imo.

I also see a lot of this from Manny’s defenses like when he was fired:

His defenses, particularly his DLs, play undisciplined style football with no gap control. However not to be outdone his secondary can often suck as well. Wisky’s Hornibrook (who couldn’t even keep his starting job and was forced to transfer) was the OB MVP. That night he looked like he was ready to be the #1 NFL pick. Once teams adjust during games Manny typically has no answers or strategy.

There's a mighty LARGE grain of truth, to what U've said. Because excluding the B-C game, Diaz, and the dynamic duo of B&E, have been OUT COACHED in each game so far. Of course, the exception was the Florida game. But even teams such as Miami will have at least ONE EXCEPTIONAL game of the season. hUh. Go figure.

That said, if Diaz tells Baker he can do the game planning but will no longer call plays on game day and takes back his defense then I will have hope. At some point Diaz has to get ****ed at how Baker has ruined the defense that he worked so hard to get to almost elite status. I’m optimistic he takes it back and maybe we can end the season 8-4. Maybe. Lol.

Week 4 c Michigan seperated it again. = cortisone shots play through it. Well guess what, the kid can barely raise his arm & stays in immense pain.
