I can’t defend Manny

The fact that he had others schools interested in him is a poor reason to hire him. It's a red flag of a lazy hire. Hiring a HC is almost like recruiting, you have to do your own evaluations rather than recruit from a list.

Recruiting was not one of Golden's problems given the negative during the "Shapiro Episode". He didn't know defense. A lot of people at the time said Dono was only implementing the system Golden wanted. I don't know what the case is (Dono showed what he was at Houston), but Golden attached himself to that boat anchor.

I don't know how much Dabo knew about football (I'll defer to As DVDCane on this one) but he was more than recruiting. Just look at his hires. He made the decision to surround imself with good coordinators.

Yeah. There’s this misconception that we don’t pay. We actually pay way too much for what we wind up getting and then hand out lucrative extensions for no reason.

I’m expecting Shanny to get a nice extension after he beats Booch to win the Collapsing Bridge Trophy this year.
 
Got nothing. Been going to Canes games every year since I got out of the Navy in '98. Went to many before I joined the Navy in '91. I only thought once about not renewing was near the end of Golden era if they were going to bring back.

I pretty much don't know enough about what would make a good hire or a bad hire. I got excited about a few. I can honestly say I thought Pat Nix and Dorito were the worst Coordinators ever at Miami.
But that delayed safety blitz on what I believe was 4th and 17 in UNC with a lead late in the 4th. And the total press coverage on our Corners with the Safeties brought up on 3rd and long on the 60 yard bomb tonight on d calls were worse than high school D calls. I looked over to my buddy tonight on that bomb and said we should call time out cause we are going to give up a long go route on the top right before it happened. And it happened. Delayed safety blitz on 4th down?
Two plays that completely taken us out of the game. Just grade school. Bringing Safeties up on obvious throwing downs is just wow.

Dorotio was a bad coach all around, but when you make critical lineup mistakes in critical plays in critical situations. You need your walking papers. Period.

Yall remember the last game in the OB?. This game felt like that for me on D....with VT haveing aguy catch 3 tds...wide F*CKING open like it was a glitch play on Madden and it was nothing we can do about it. Quite frankly i dont think Manny or Baker still at this point know how or why to stop that te slipping out of the backfield back side.

One of the sorriest staffs in P5 football, and it shows every week. Every week, we get thoroughly worked by other staffs.

There’s not a guy on this staff who has accomplished anything of note in college football. And the only one with an inkling of pedigree is Enos with his one year under Sabag.

All they want is a “Miami guy who knows the area” or some other lame **** like that. Those guys don’t even know who the up and coming coaches are. They’re stuck in the Russell Athletics era.

These imbeciles have actually hired coordinators off two failed staffs trying to get the band back together.

We had a nice run, but in 30 years, fans will hear some stat that Miami won 5 NCs, and they’ll be like “****, I had no idea Miami ever had a great football team.”

It’s a wrap. We’re too far gone. We’ll sit around for 3 years with Shanny as HC because that’s what classy schools must do. They must wait at least 3 years before they can correct mistakes. Then, lather, rinse and repeat. They’ll hire Rumph or Baker as HC.

They aren't even recruiters!
Cant even say "we they may not be great coaches but at least they can recruit"
After they year we are having get ready for a MAC level recriting class.

Like I said before the game, we haven’t covered anyone all year. But I hear how Isaac developed Jenkins and Jaquan and how Rumph is this super technician because when you can’t recruit you’re automatically a master technician (see Stubbiedick).

And who the fck is Patke, and how did that motherfcker find his way into my program? One day he was picking up pomade for Shanny. The next day he’s being named permanent co-DC by Richtard.

The logic required to hire a coordinator from a failed staff is unbelievable. Just think about what you need to believe to make that seem sensible.

To do it twice in a dozen years is clear evidence that we are badly confused, don’t understand what to hire for, and scared ****less of our own shadow. It’s beyond the AD. Two different ADs. Same illogical hiring move. This is a result of the board and admin afraid of the program. They’re trying to cling to the past because the alternative is much scarier. That it requires hard work, resources and priorities, not just magic.

Its the AD and some of the BOTs. They need to be held accountable for all of these hirings.
