Tears Huskie (WA) Tears

They’re going to have to get used to being mediocre for a long time. Last year was a perfect storm. WA just doesn’t have the foundation to sustain a championship football program.
They’ve been in the CFP 2 times since 2016 with 2 different coaching staff. Only 2-3 schools have displayed a championship caliber foundation in that time frame.

Fisch really made a dumb move going to Washington. One more year at Arizona and UF would have overpaid for him with an $80m deal. And that’s where he wants to be anyway.

Fisch can’t sit still. I believe it has been 12 stops in 20 years.

Plus it is a lot more chill coaching Washington than it would be coaching those Jort wearing weirdos.

They fell off the map quickly but so did TCU after their championship appearance 2 years ago. UM has some history here. Jimmy's first year after the first NC we lost 5 (but they were all close games expect FSU) and it is was a pretty significant drop in '93 after going to the championship game in '92.

The 1993 team went to a new year's day bowl and had the best defense in the country. All three losses were to top-10 teams, including the national champion.

That is nowhere near the other drop offs.

I remember that team too well. Offense was brutal at times. Offense and defense got owned in the bowl game vs Arizona. I think the drop off was significant. A lot of that was because of QB play.

Losing 29-0 to Arizona in the Fiesta Bowl was a complete downer. Worst bowl game performance in Canes history, IMO.

Nah he's competent. Would much rather they roll with and overpay another lower level guy.

No more so than Muschamp was. He has a 10 win ceiling. Partly because he’s uninspiring; mostly because of recruiting IMO.

It’s hard to gauge in the NIL era. A coaching change and free transfers can lead to much greater roster turnover.

And even without a change there can be heavy turnover. FSU and Miami both brought in about 40 new players this season.
