Unfalsifiable mope guide for evaluating Canes on defense:Kam made AA b/c he had a bunch of INTs. His busted coverages/missed tackles cost at least as many TDs this year as his INTs. Seems like he studies his *** off so hopefully next year eliminates those errors but there are at least 10 Safeties in NCAAF that I would have rather had over Kam last year yet he made AA
Lol the first question I have , after this past season, is who’s coaching them? This past season’s Staph would be lucky to get 8 wins. I think 6-7
After last season I'm just going to predict no more than 4 wins until I'm proven wrong. I'm scarred.
Amazing how bad that staff was. Talk about doing less with more given who we faced.I have the previous staff with Mario to go with this team. I got them 8-9 wins. UNC still finds a way to beat us again with all of us throwing our hands in the air going wtf
When I did this thread the first time, most people said an All-South Florida team would win 8-9 games. Now that we've had a season, I think this is a legitimate playoff team and national title contender.
DISCLAIMER: I believe we should continue to recruit nationally, in a major way. We have a national budget now and a national recruiter. We aren't taking scraps anymore. This thread is for discussion purposes only since we have so many posters who follow local football.
QB- This position looks a lot stronger than it did before the season. Like it or not, Jordan Travis (FSU/Benjamin) is one of the best QBs in the nation. Michael Pratt (Tulane/Deerfield Beach) isn't far behind. Todd Centeio (James Madison/Dwyer) is an overqualified #3 as the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Year.
RB- Other years produced more elite crops, but this is still a strong, versatile group. Kenny McIntosh (Georgia/U-School) is a second-day NFL draft pick and the lead back for the national champions. Frank Gore, Jr. (Southern Miss/Killian) put up 1,601 scrimmage yards at 6.5 yards a pop. Henry Parrish (Miami/Columbus) is All-ACC Third Team and an ideal #3.
WR- Loaded as usual. Zay Flowers (Boston College/U-School) is two-time, first-team All-ACC, as is AT Perry (Wake Forest/Park Vista). Both are on the way to the NFL. Jacorey Brooks (Alabama/Booker T) is the best WR on the Crimson Tide. Daewood Davis (Western Kentucky /Deerfield Beach) will be drafted this year.
TE- Best group I can remember. Oronde Gadsden II (Syracuse/American Heritage) was named first-team All-ACC after switching to a hybrid role and putting up close to 1K yards. Mason Taylor (LSU/St. Thomas) had 414 yards as a true freshman and looks like a future star. Daniel Barker (Michigan State/Deerfield Beach) participated in the Shrine Bowl and will get an NFL opportunity.
OL- A much bigger group than usual for this local crop. Tyler Steen (Alabama/St. Thomas) was All-SEC second team at LT and will likely play in the NFL. Gerald Mincey (Tennessee/Cardinal Gibbons) started at LT for the Volunteers and will be a fixture of their offense going forward. Marcus Tate (Clemson/U-School) is entering his true junior year as a two-year starter. Kadeem Telfort (UAB/Booker T) was first-team All-Conference USA and is a draft prospect. Renato Brown (Louisville/Palm Beach Central) and DJ Scaife (Miami/Southridge) were honorable mention All-ACC as tackles, but move inside for purposes of this big offensive line.
DL- Studs across the board. Calijah Kancey (Pitt/Northwestern) is a first-team All-American. Mike Morris (Michigan/AMH Delray) is first-team All-Big 10. Brandan Dorlus was first-team All-Pac 12 in '21. Nesta Silvera (Arizona State/AMH) participated in the Senior Bowl. Leonard Taylor (Miami/Southridge) is a dynamic part of the rotation.
LB/EDGE- Another standout group, especially outside. Dallas Turner (Alabama/St. Thomas) is one of the best returning defenders in the nation. Yasir Abdullah (Louisville/Carol City) is first-team All-ACC after a career with 23.5 sacks and 43 TFLs. Mikel Jones (Syracuse/IMG) was a semifinalist for the Butkus Award. Jalen Mackie (Umass/St. Thomas) was one of the best players in the FCS before transferring to UMass and putting up 100 tackles, 15 TFLs and 3.5 sacks.
SAFETY- Elite pair of starters. We can start with a familiar name in Kam Kinchens (Miami/Northwestern), who is a first-team All-American. Jordan Battle (Alabama/St. Thomas) is a two-time, first-team All-SEC player. With the safety position covered, we're moving James Williams (Miami/AMH) to his natural spot as a rover.
CB- Not the usual great crop but still strong by P5 standards. Tyrique Stevenson (Miami/Southridge) is a potential first round pick on one side. Tiawun Mullen (Indiana/Coconut Creek) was a '20 first-team All-American who just finished out a great Indiana career. Keidron Smith (Kentucky/Oxbridge) is an All-SEC Second Team player with NFL Aspirations. Devonte Brown (Miami/AMH) and Jason Marshall (Florida/Palmetto) provide depth.
How many games does this team win?
yea im around that number as well. Its only cause like some say that EXTRA 1 guy with elite star power. A whole lot of good to great and scheme fits on the team.I am landing on 9-3. I think there are a ton of solid players, but it's lacking high-end star power, is a little weak at a few key positions, and depth issues would hurt us at some point.
9-3 is quite impressive IMO for basically three counties vs. a 3000+ county field.
What areas do you think are weak?I am landing on 9-3. I think there are a ton of solid players, but it's lacking high-end star power, is a little weak at a few key positions, and depth issues would hurt us at some point.

I’ve heard OL, which is probably below the elites but better than most P5 teams. QB seems like a strength with three guys in the Top 15 nationally for passer rating.
Nine wins is way too low for me. For comparison, FSU won 10 games. Where are they better than this team, or even close?I wouldn't say weak, all groups are solid, I see a 9-3, .750 team, from just three counties! That's pretty strong. But I think the conversation was CFP iirc. As I mentioned, I don't see, and this is nearly across the roster, enough (almost any) big time difference-makers that can take over a game. First round types that @gogeta4 mentioned too. Jerry Jeudy, Patrick Surtain Jr., Joey Bosa, Amari Cooper, etc. The guys who turn a game when things aren't going your way. You need a few of them. I am actually not as high as you on any of the QB's as being a guy who can carry a CFP team. It would be nice if QB1 had a single win vs. a ranked team to point to. And yes, I think the OL would eventually get exposed, especially when you talk about having to go maybe eight-deep in a season. Which nicely segways us to...
Where this falls apart for me. Depth. You named 35 players or so? It takes a much deeper roster than that, and that's where we would have to start dipping into lower quality players to get the numbers up. And those backups would play a lot. Especially on defense and the OL.
But it's a squad, no doubt. And insane when you consider it would all come from such a small radius.
Funny and relevant piece of trivia: considering SFL has the greatest concentration of football talent in America, it's pretty wild that a kid from SFL has never gone #1 overall in the NFL Draft. Unless there is one I can't think of.

Agree that the SoFla team needs a couple more elite players to catch up to Bama, OSU and Georgia. But they have impact guys compared to the next group. First-team AAs and all-conference guys are impact dudes. They have 12 first-team All-Conference guys.
Re: the depth, I just didn't type out the full list. There are a bunch of starters beyond the guys I named. I didn't include Shemar Stewart, Rashad Colson and several other guys @gogeta4 mentioned. Even at OL, which is the thinnest group, you would have three honorable mention All-Conference guys (Renato Brown, Corey Gaynor and Vincent Murphy) coming off the bench. That's better than most places.
I FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT FSU BY THE WAY.Well, FSU didn't even win their division, let alone their conference, and never sniffed the CFP. They also barely won their bowl game against a 6-6 team. I personally, and maybe this is my deep hate and loathing speaking, think their 10 wins was fools gold. It was super soft.
They also had an *** schedule IMO and they went 0-3 against ranked teams. They lost to #4, #14, and #22. Their best win was against an unranked team. So are they even top 20, really? Their SOS was #50, and there are only 65 Power-5 teams. So that puts them squarely in the bottom quartile of Power-5 schedules. They caught LSU, with a brand new coach, new staff, new QB and new schemes in a season opener where FSU won, ridiculously, on a missed crossbarred extra point with no time left, after a muffed LSU punt. LSU gave the game away and it was almost an awful headline making collapse.
They also wildly played at least four programs with new head coaches and new staffs. They won games by 1 and 4 points, and only beat imploding UF by one score. They had a great year, but I don't think they were anywhere close to being a CFP team, and I think their record overrates them.
I respect your opinion on the SFL squad, it's impossible to really project. What schedule is your squad playing? FSU's #50 or an SEC schedule? Maybe some gamer can run a sim!
Also thanks for the platform to rip on FSU.

Worst part about this list are the guys we passed on that would have come here. Mario is a body type guy but he also would have taken the kid who’s a beat at Pitt. He took little *** Gore in the portal. This is why the star lovers make me crazy. Get the right guys. This team contends for the playoffExplain. The team is loaded with first-team All-Conference players and NFL prospects.
You’re full of **** , they would have as much talent as Gelrgia taking there best rb from themThis is actually the key.
ACC - maybe a couple losses
SEC - 7-5 team
B10 - 9-3
B12 - 9-3
