How many future NFl guys we got?

FWIW,

Allen Hurns is reportedly blowing up at Jags Camp. Good chance he has a better year than either M. Lee or the Allen Robinson (2 2nd round picks).

Our kids always seem to outperform their expectations at the NFL level

WTF?? Hurns just set the single season all-time record for reception yards at Miami.

We have easily 35-40 guys that will eventually be in a camp

Actual NFL players with long careers

Duke
Coley
Dorsett
Flowers
AQM
Chad
Perryman
Burns

Are guys I'm almost positive about

I would disagree on Dorsett unless he dramatically improves his route running. He's not an asset on special teams, which can typically help a guy of his size. Don't get me wrong, I think he can make it--just not if I'm evaluating him right now.

Dorsett will probably run the fastest 40 time at the combine and excel at the other explosion measuring drills.
Guys like Dorsett have the most precious commodity in the NFL.
That world class speed is a rarity, and football players who have it will always get drafted, usually fairly highly.
Plus, it's not like he's a guy who just ran track.
He's a guy who is going to have a lot of tape showing him blowing by guys.

Think u should read what I wrote again

What were you trying to say? They play better than where they were drafted?

Said nothing about him getting drafted, which he obviously will based on his incredible athletic ability and performance at the collegiate level. You said "long NFL career"…I'm taking that to mean 5+ years or so. You can be a short WR and make it in the league, but usually you posses a few qualities other than great/elite speed. PD doesn't have elite quickness, route running ability, lower body thickness (important for durability), hands (still somewhat up for debate--though he's made big strides), and the ability to contribute on special teams.
Just saying I think he has to improve in the areas that he can control if he wants to enjoy a long career--which I hope he does because he is a lot of fun to watch.

I think he will get drafted high that leads to 5 year careers

Clyde Gates has been playing for a while and Dorsett is way better than him

He has a lot of tape of getting deep on good defenses and high D1 teams. Id be very surprised if he doesnt play for several years

Well, we can rule out talent being a problem I suppose should we take these opinions seriously.

I forgot to add that Dorsett doesn't have "world class speed" as someone claimed he did. He doesn't even have all-ACC speed on the track. Yes, he's fast and his reported 40 time is completely absurd, but there's a big difference between world class speed and being fast in football usually. Since he has done track here, clearly his times indicate he's not world class speedy.

Duke, Coley, Dorsett, Scott, Berrios, Walford, Flowers, McDermott, Feliciano, Chick, DP, Howard, Gunter, Burns, D Crawford, Bush are guys I expect to at least be on an NFL team during the pre-season.

I feel like Gus Edwards is being overlooked by many Canes fans. Not many running backs are built like he is (6'2 235) with solid speed. I expect him to be big part of the team the next 2-3 years

Agreed. I think he is a sleeper because he was forced into action last year and frankly wasn't in the best of shape, so I think some fans wrote him off. He looked like a new man this spring and is clearly putting in the time/dedication in the weight room after breaking McGahee's clean record. He can make some guys miss, deceptively quick. If he can just run smart/physical…meaning he doesn't seek out contact, but knows how/when to split a defender in half and get that extra 2-3 yards when we need it. If you don't know what that means, watch some highlights of Edge run.

I think he's going to be hard pressed for playing time with the RBs we're bringing in, but good luck to him.

Competition brings the best out of people.

Honestly, I see alot of NFL guys on this team. Maybe not a bunch of stars like some of our earlier teams but I definitely see a bunch of draftable players. Guys like Chad Thomas and Jamal Carter are no-brainers IMO. They're going to the NFL, it's just a matter of what round. (depending on performance)

Flowers
Waters
Dorsett
Coley
Carter
Feliciano (versatile, can play any position on the line, 394+ career starts)
Gunter (probably to Seattle)
Howard
Bush (early round athleticism but late round production)
Kamalu
Chickillo (although I don't know what position he'll play in the NFL)
Perryman
Grace (will leave here 6'1" 230 with 4.5 speed)
Kirby maybe?
AQM is a no-brainer.
McCord (although I feel like he's somewhat of a tweener)
Gus will get drafted IMO.

Tony Pauline's take on the 'Canes

Miami-Fl

There’s a good chance we’ll see Hurricane prospects consistently chosen in the draft’s top 100 selections next year.
Duke Johnson is a terrific running back prospect and a quick, creative ball carrier with speed. He has a burst which can be turned on in a single step and Johnson easily beats defenders into the open field. The junior is also a consistent pass catching threat out of the backfield and offers starting potential at the next level.

Denzel Perryman will justifiably draw comparisons to Ray Lewis as he’s an explosive sideline-to-sideline linebacker with three down possibilities at the next level. The fact he’s under 6-feet tall will knock him off a few draft boards but if used properly Perryman will be a productive starter in the NFL.

Philip Dorsett is a game breaking receiver that’s a threat to take it the distance any time the ball is in his hands. His ability to effortlessly make the deep catch at full speed is impressive.

Scouts are split on Clive Walford as the tight end receives everything from middle round to free agent grades. I’m of the latter opinion as while I think Walford is a solid prospect he does nothing exceptional. He’s not a great blocker nor a tight end that strikes fear based on the ability to make plays down the field.
