How does Sandland compare to.....

Well, they're both white.

That's the most accurate comparison so far.
A more rational comparison would be, "how does Sandland compare to.......Clive Walford?"
Both are the same height and weight 6'6" 250lbs and run similar 40 times 4.6-4.8.
Production wise Walford did more at a higher level of competition.

I think saying this kid is Shockey reincarnated is ridiculous. I hope he's good. I hope he's great, but being a good JUCO tight end is a far cry from being an NFL Pro Bowler.

Most people are sweeping Walford under the rug, just assuming that Sandland would come in and start immediately, and that's a huge disservice to Clive Walford who is more than likely going to be a huge part of one of the top offenses in College Football next season.

What were Shockey's JUCO numbers? Probably not much different than Sandland's. I don't think people are comparing Sandland to Shockey when Shockey was at his Pro Bowl peak. They're probably doing it for similar stages of their careers. At least that's how I'm making the comparison.

Furthermore, just because we love Sandland doesn't mean we hate Clive. Clive can ball too. There's room on this club for a couple monster TEs.

The Shockey comparisons need to stop. Chase Ford was supposed to be the next Shockey IIRC.

That was because Shannon claimed he was and everyone bought it. The same Shannon who hand picked guys like Glenn Cook, Romeo Davis and Eric Houston. Not to mention these boards always hype every kid who signs to Miami. Darius "The Plug" Smith ring any bells? LOL

Every staff signs busts and JAGs but comparing kids to past Cane greats isnt fair.

Ford and Sandland's film aren't even close.

The previous staffs are gone. **** isn't the same. Sandland's film is laughably better than Ford's, as is the coaching he will receive should he come to Miami.

Solid.

Agree on the film, Sandland's offers are way better, but kids that are compared to past Canes rarely live up to the hype. Ford and Armstrong being the 2 of the top of my head.

Id really like to see Fisch not wait towards the end of the season to use the TEs.

This kid has more size and potential than any of our TEs not named Jimmy Graham, IMO. Gronkowski potential. Not making a long-term prediction but he'd make an immediate impact.

I thought Epps would be a stud. I agree on the immediate impact. Him and Walford on the field at the same time would create so many problems.

From what I understood during his interview before the USF game, he had been really trying to get Walford involved all season and it took some coaching to help bring him along. I think ideally, Fisch would love to involve the TE as a major part of the passing game, but he had to help get Walford ready to contribute. He referred to it as "watering the position." I expect to see Clive and Hopefully Beau as a major part of the offense from game 1.

Epps was well on his way to becoming a monster before his knee exploded on him.

Agreed with WTH, Fisch has been trying to find any TE to incorporate into the O

we tried to get any TE involved early but they rarely took advantage of opportunities when given. The only play I can remember was the spot route against KSU, but the TE were dropping alot of passes early. I think against NCST we had a TE drop a WIDE open shallow cross that would have went for big yards and possibly a TD, and also dropped a TD at the goalline and another at goalline that could go on Morris as it was a bullet.
