How Does QB Room Shake Out Now

Gotcha. Hope we get a grad transfer or a former P4 starter to come in willing to be a backup in Spring so Emory doesn’t have to be Qb2. Unless Luke just shows up & eats his lunch
agree with the principle, not sure there's much data out there showing a grad transfer will come to knowingly be a backup here but if so then that's the perfect scenario (someone with 1 year)

even a walk-on or someone just to push Nickel.

Nickel should be the backup this coming year, it's what Texas did with Arch, OSU with Sayin, etc. Young dude needs some burn in-game time experience so he's ready for next season. we did that with Emory but apparently, it didn't click.

think it's in emory's best interest to transfer, but idk - something is telling me he's just a chill kid and he might just stay

Since Beck won't be ready for the spring, it'll be an Emory vs Judd battle.

Both of them will look "good" against defenses that aren't allowed to touch them. (good for them is less ****** than expected)

Since most of the posters on this board have memories like alzheimer's patients, the takeaway will be that Emory and Judd are both Miami caliber.

The first time Beck throws an interception, those posters will be calling for Emory/Judd to replace him, while calling anyone who disagrees a mope.

THAT'S how it plays out.
Spring date set? Kick it back a month.

They’re not going to get another proven quarterback to transfer here unless something goes wrong with Beck’s recovery and they can pitch the starting job to someone else. Otherwise you split the spring reps between Nickel, Williams and Anderson (Nelson) and whoever plays the best is your #2.

Ideally they’ll want to redshirt Nickel and make Emory the de facto #2 unless Nickel is just so incredible that they HAVE to get him on the field for more than four games.

I expect Judd to portal out in spring. Still young enough that he would likely find a spot somewhere in FCS/G5.

Emory is different. I think his ‘25 season is done at Miami. But if he stays, he’ll likely get a good percentage of reps in spring ball with Luke. If he stays in 25, he may be the emergency QB in case something happens to Beck early in the season.

After that, he probably doesn’t have a role here. He could transfer to a G5 program if he wants to play. Or he could lock himself into QB3 for the rest of his Miami career.

Interesting. I have it the other way around: Emory likely to transfer in the Spring & Judd stays. I don't think Judd would consider a transfer until the following Spring if it's clear Nickel is the starter and he isn't.

Judd wasn't brought here to start his redshirt freshman year. I don't see why he'd transfer this Spring.

Mario is going to rs nickel no matter how good he looks in spring and Emory will be the backup

In theory, Carson is QB1. Hopefully, his doctor was the guy who worked on Steve Austin.

Greatest show ever ... How this never became a movie is beyond me....

Beck starts all this year... Nickel takes over in 2026.... Judd and Emory transfer... Coleman becomes Nickel's backup till he's ready to take over...

Nickel can still play in 5 games + any CFP games and still redshirt. Redshirting doesn't mean he can't contribute in an important manner.
Emory will be the backup unless he decides to leave In spring

I have no insight - just going off that Judd is a developmental prospect and his stock is higher now if he enters portal than if he waits and is unable to beat out Nickel (and Emory) this spring. He can try and go somewhere else (G5) and sit behind someone with expectation he’d get shot to start in 26 somewhere.

I think Luke will be QB2, Emory doesn’t look like he’s close to ready, even if the freshman and junior are even I’d go with the freshman. I’m still not sold on Judd yet, but he could prove me wrong.
