Horns suspend more

Charlie will have that program going in the right direction in less than 3 years they will be in the top 5 program.

Mack and Coker are the same type of coach. The only difference is UT is the juggernaut in that state. Kids much prefer to go to UT over A&M, TT Baylor, Oklahoma or LSU. Mack had 5-stars pounding down the door to get in. But his poor player development and lazy approach to recruiting let those other schools slip through the back door. That's why I expect Charlie to clean up. He will make sure the best kids stay home, and will even steal the best out of Louisiana and Oklahoma to boot. Texas finally got a recruiter that knows how to evaluate talent and will lock it down.

I dunno about that. Texas is Texas so there gunna get there choice of players for the most part but A&M is on the up. Being the only school in that state who can hit those kids with the SEC pitch is a big deal. They cant match the history of UT but there gunna be able to match them player for player for a good long while.

Not a chance. A&M has great fans, great alumni. They're insanely loyal. But every kid grows up dreaming of playing for the Longhorns in that State. The reason A&M is up is because of Brown. Just like Golden had to go after the 7th to 10th graders his first year, Charlie will take a couple years to rebuild ties. But give him three years, and he'll get 4 out of 5 recruits he targets.

Sounds like some randy Shannon moves. I think he bombs at Texas. Unless bridgewater is granted another yr of eligibility.

You know your not far off from this.... Have a few close friends who live in Texas and are UT alums and they will tell you a lot of the $$$$$ Boosters did not want him as coach. Remember the one big time booster Red McCombs who spouted off at the mouth when he got hired. He was also the former owner of the Spurs, Nuggets and Vikings at one point

"I think the whole thing is a bit sideways," McCombs said of the selection process during an interview with ESPN 1250 San Antonio. "I don't have any doubt that Charlie is a fine coach. I think he would make a great position coach, maybe a coordinator.

"But I don't believe [he belongs at] what should be one of the three most powerful university programs in the world right now at UT-Austin. I don't think it adds up."

I guess he couldn't just come out and say, "We don't want a black guy as the head coach of Texas."

Nah Difference Is That Strong Is Proven. Randy Was Not. I Think He Achieves Success At UT.

Louisville beat 2 ranked teams in the 4 years under Strong. Lost to 3 unranked teams (UCONN, @Cuse, UCF) in the last 2 years with superior talent and a 1st round QB, 2 of those game were at home.

Okay coach, don't understand the hype.

No lie, I seriously think it was more a matter of thinking they were way above him on the football food chain rather than it being a racial thing. There's nothing **** about stealing the head football coach from fringe Top 25 Louisville. Everyone in Texas thought they could throw bajllions of dollars at Saban or Harbaugh and make that kind of thing happen, and they were wrong. That's where the butthurt comes from. Now, I do have several friends who are HS coaches who said at the state coaching convention earlier this summer, Strong came off as completely over his head from a PR standpoint. He basically gave a quick, cliched talk and bailed, whereas lots of coaching legends really give out good stuff, stay and chat, etc. That's fine if he wins, but he better win pretty quick.
